Looks like another promising build from you. Will you be scratchbuilding the front hood/bonnet on the Aoshima C-West FD? I have one too but the builds is put to a stop at the moment though.

kalam2b - June 8, 2006 08:39 AM (GMT)
yep i'm going to scratch build the hood vents 4 aos fd. But as at now my head jamned  don't hv the idea on what else to modify on this kit. Now try to finish the tamiya 1st. done the rear over fender and side skirt for tamiya.

Any close-up pictures Kalam2b? It's looking good from the picture.

Kalam,
Good built there and the improved shine on the top of the car. Oh! were you at the Tamiya Com?

kalam2b - July 24, 2006 07:32 AM (GMT)
hi,
druid : i'll post the outdoor pic end of nextweek, balik kampung time.

kenneth: yupp, i was there on sunday(i think 3 pm), there were lot of stunning models there. Sometimes feel so small comparing to you guys and sometimes feel so so excited to compete with you guys. I think we're on the right track into superb modelling community. Big applause to you guys.

Nice shine there. The decals are a bit not to my liking... but it's your model. :D

The Pan Speed decal is ok, but the DRFT decal on the sides and the front bonnet is a bit off. It looks not in place. That's just my opinion lah.

By the way, sorry to inform you late but there should be an opening on the sides of the bumper near the wheel... it's nothing actually... just to inform you.

A great build overall. Can't wait for more pictures. ;)

aoshima bit generous to give 3 gt wings in panspeed fd3s ( 4 actually including OEM spoiler)

koowilliams - July 28, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
i think the GT wing got oversized quite a bit...

my design choice - 4th
but if it spread wider than its body too much, will somehow makes it look unproportionate... again, maybe that is my taste...

ayoi - July 28, 2006 12:36 PM (GMT)
for me no 4th!!!!!!!!! awesome.. where ur get all gt-wing???

PcEvo - August 7, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)

Hi kalam2b...Nice color and decals combination u've choose..the pics of ur kit ontop of the 1:1 car boner looks so real from a distance...Bravo man! ;)

As for the GT-Wing...i prefer the 1st one as it looks more fierce and rugged....the 2nd and 3rd looks pretty normal to me as it makes your car FAST but not FURIOUS

Is just my sense only ok... ;)

Small update.
finished with the body. going to attach the headlight, windscreen, etc. I almost break the front fender while wet-sanding&rubbing, fuhhsss! big release, just a small crack. And while painting the windows panel, the paint bleed under the tape...gosh. to cover it, polish it and covered it with bodyline decal, another fuhhsss! :). hope to finish the exterior this week. next week hope to start with glueing the engine.

that headlight conversion looks awsome

Kenneth - January 17, 2007 09:51 AM (GMT)
Dear Kalam,

Nice work there! Like what Bai said, the conversion on hte head light is good. I just have to say it. The rear arch is a little weird. It is nice and wide but I guess it should follow through the rear bumper. You know what I mean?

Kenneth

kalam2b - January 18, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)

Yupp, in the beginin' i myself find it weird too. but after sometime i find it's quite menacing(look fast even not moving).IMHO hihihi . i've saw one 1:1 rixie with this type of wide rear over fender and different between his and mine are the rivets. I'll post the photo later. any idea on the headlight cover? round headlight or square hdlight.

druid_99 - January 18, 2007 06:43 AM (GMT)
Kalam2b,

I have to agree with Kenneth that the rear fender looks a bit off. I think what he meant is that there is no flow from the side skirts to the fender and right to the rear bumper. The fender looks strange because it goes to a point right before the side skirts, which looks wierd to me as well. Other than that, it looks really good. :D

kalam2b - June 27, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
Hi all,

Need to organize my build. trust me don't try to do more than 2 kits at one time. it'll easily getting messy and fed-up! ): (unless u're not a rookie like me)

Now working on 10 kits simultaneously -
wide fd(80%), jun gdb impreza(50%), xtreme makeover bncr34(20%), arai impreza(50%), custom 180sx(20%), custom s14(20%), bncr34 z-tune(80%), wide bncr32(30%), ol'skool celica xx (80%),custom evo-trial varis evo(30%),

Unopen - advan altezza, f50, s14, castrol bncr32.

Going to put on hold the rest and will concentrate on this FD 1st. (i've learn my lesson. :) )

Tell me about it...

Nice build you got there Kalam2b. Love the overall look and it builds up quite nicely (still looks wierd with the rear overfender though).

As for the repeater, rather than trying to get replacement, can I suggest scratchbuilding it from clear sprues lying around? You just need to get the shape from the clear sprue and then just polish away to get back the clarity. Very tedious job, I know but it works.

Other than that, you can always mix a 2-part clear Epoxy (eg; Araldite) and put it into the indicator opening. It might work but it might not work as well as I've never tried it.

xamel1975 - June 27, 2007 06:32 AM (GMT)
Nice build kalam2b. I love the headlight conversion. Is that a side exhaust that I see? ... an open pod filter in the engine is a nice touch.

kalam2b - July 10, 2007 07:49 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys 4 the comments.

Progress : very damn slow! :) - my son keep on 'kacau' when i start modelling.
Finally done with the engine. weathered the engine but i think i over do it ! a bit too dirty ): .

Overall it's a nice build. You're right about going overboard with weathering there.

I like how the intercooler looks behind the front fascia. It gives a rather menacing look. I'm not really sure about the side exhaust system though. I wouldn't put in a muffler coz it seems a bit distracting there. I would let it out as a straight pipe. To describe as how a Mat Rempit would say; "Bunyi perang, beb!"

Suggestion for the missing repeater: Use it as a cold-air inlet port.

Talking about building 2 kids at one time. I have done four very straight forward Fujimi Ferraris and that was not a problem but now really struggling to finish the 4 enzos

user posted image

Now I had just finish wet sanding the body parts and first stage of polishing. Man! I have another 4 more stages to go :( . So to everyone out there. Please do not build more then one unless you are very free and confident.

Oh! By the way, Kalam. Nice built there and I like the engine details as well. Body wise. Good polishing work but could be better. Keep up the good work. ;)

Looks good. The rollcage looks good to. The size is ok but the alluminium floor looks too thick.

My opinion though.

kalam2b - August 1, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
Finally done the interior. one more to go, the hood vents.

Re-work the aluminium floor, thanks druid to notice it. :)

kalam2b - August 10, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
Finally finished the kit :) ,but :( after re-rub the body with polishing compound a there's a sign of chipped clear coat. ahhhh! !@#$%^&*...oppss sorry. Is it because of very thin clear coat or overwetsanding? At a glance u won't notice it but if look carefully u'll see it. Any suggestions guys?

Kenneth - August 10, 2007 08:10 AM (GMT)
It all depends on which part of the body that has this problem. Basically it is not called "Chipped clear coat" ir is called blistering for the clear coat when you polsih to hard on it or like you said over wet sanded.

Ok. You can do what the normal spray painter does for the real car. Air brush it lightly layer by layer of colour until you get the right depth of the body colour. then do the same for the clear coat. Once it is dried. do not wet sand it but use a corser compound and start building it up to a fine grade ones.

Good luck! ;)
