Title: Op "gali Lobang"
cptan - August 18, 2011 02:04 AM (GMT)
Guys,
As some of U may have know that I'm on project "Gali Lobang.... Well this is one of "Lobang" recommended by club's member.... This is indead a difficult project. First the client said he need a diorama of "IPOH OLD TOWN ROAD"... then half way I'm sculpting figures, the client change his mind to "TAIPING OLD TRAIN STATION"... then the confusing looking for ref picts, historical accuracy, whether to put in a train and train type, blablabla.... Last secure left me 45days to deliver.
Due to time limitation, the client agreed for me to painted the figures in less detail painting (no hilight & shading).
- Figures are major conversiob from Tamiya 1/20 pit crew and Motorsport team set
- The station itself was built from mounting board and cover with some wood sheet. I've got the help of a friend who own a laser scourge the planking line on the wood sheet.
- scratch built the trishaw
- bought a Aoshima 1/20 mini cooper
- a ready made and wheather MAISO truck
- Fruit stall order from Ebay bangkok seller
- train are built up from foam board cover with Pollyfilla
- the rest all scratch built
Basic foundation:

The diorama:

I've painted the malay makcik sarong:

The canteen, snack, kuih and cake I've scratch built and painted....

This diorama is now on display at Mid Valley 2nd floor center court canon digital camera shop. If U look at the dio in detail U'll find a lot of unfinishing touch and UGLY.
Conclusion from this built is:
- For $$$$ wise, rushing project kill my mood in modelling
- U can never satisfy an o\ver demanding client. Modeller are artist, we need a good manager to fan off client's "KACAU"... A manager who knows both side condition and able to identify what to agree.
That's all.

Well done, CP Tan!
You definitely did well given the circumstances - scratch-building the building and a train (even part of one) is not small potatoes.
Looks like a very hefty piece of real estate too. How large does the base measure?
I hope to see it in person when I get the chance.

Looks great to me towkay...love those details. My office is at Mid valley, later go see hehe

Seems like my bluff goes through ther test hahahah...
That's only a laser printed wall paper stick on the wall of the canteen.

Too bad there's not much references of the train on the net.... I mean the train number, serial no....etc.

Good build CP,
Can't compare a 45 day build with 5 year build. Still it looks fabulous in the pictures. Lucky it's in 1/20scale too.
Cheers,
Rocco

I just went kai kai in Mid Valley and drop by the Canon shop.
Dio looks great la, very impressive in the middle of the shop.
I ask the shop fella, "what is this thing for, is it for Hari Raya?"
He said "Is for people to take picture and test macro function"

Thanx Lano for ur good comment.
That's what the anon boss told me.... notice there're lots of digi canera display around the dio, he said the dio create the center of attraction drawing visitoe to pick up the camera and zoom in to see.
In fact he told me there's such a "Kampong scene" diorama display in TIME SQUARE NIKON shop too... haven't go there to take a look yet. Wonder who built the TIME SQUARE diorama?
