Airfix B-type Bus - used in WW1 as troop transport and homing pigeon carrier - I am interested to try that conversion.

If you want to cut your work, you can use Tamiya's Livestock set chickens... just modify the tails and trim the fat.

landyshah - January 1, 2012 04:56 AM (GMT)
Happy New year, and i finished the S-Tank ....simple, toy like kit, but nice modelling RnR :D

Now..the more serious stuff....collecting refs on the pigeon bus...

landyshah - January 2, 2012 02:02 PM (GMT)
Got my hands on some refs...mostly external shots. However, got a very useful article from Airfix magazine July 1969, courtesy of friends in the Airfix Tribute Forum - an extremely interesting and active place to hang out, with tons of knowledge sharing, builds and WIP happening almost every hour B)

Started to build up the cabin - plastic sheet and strips used for the window panelling and interior ribs. No known pictures of the interior, so i followed the layout of other builds i found on the net, and added a few details of my own.

Pigeons on the way..took the easy way out and found that a Czech outfit called Hauler does a set for RM 20+, ordered two, plus some WW1 british figures.

landyshah - January 5, 2012 06:45 AM (GMT)
Some update:

1. Working on the upper deck and pigeon house. All details were sanded off and the new walls made from scribed plastic sheet. Square rod used for framework. The "outriggers" will be mesh netting

2. Chassis and lower body put together

3. Test fit the upper and lower sections. Man, it looks so home-made - hard to imagine this was a communication HQ vehicle

Damn interesting build Aneh,

Starting to look like the "Wacky Races" cartoon cars man.

The weathering will be great for this one with all the pidgeon droppings strikking down the sides.

Cheers,
Richard

Haha, thanks guys

Hey, we all gotta do something different la, instead of the usual :

GREY JET
GREEN TANK
WHITE GUNDAMMY ROBOTY THING

landyshah - January 13, 2012 01:50 AM (GMT)
Some update: built up the rest of the pigeon house including the "sangkar" on the sides. Used mesh from...something (cannot be mentioned here) with some tampal-tampal here and there for a bit of a battered look. The little "house" at the front is the entrance for the pigeons

Other stuff also scratched - extended rear mudguards, side racks, rear doors etc. RH front mudguard was missing in kit, had to fabricate.

Beautiful lar Aneh Landy. Damn unique build.

Normally when all this extra plastic is added on I always have a problem of covering up with paint. For you no problem lar.

Mesh...starts with"p" and ends with "hose" I think.

Aneh Thomas aka Mr North...good you're back. GH where lar dey Pinang or KL?

Cheers,
Richard

mr b - January 13, 2012 06:34 AM (GMT)
Interesting never knew that p equates to aunty meaning a type or garment could be used in scale modelling..........

Rgds
Mr b

rtfoe - January 13, 2012 06:39 AM (GMT)
Haha, you mean "P""Aunty" and not the the other garment "P""Aunty Hose"

Ah yes yes....something like that haha

Some update - base paintwork laid on, and begin detailing the interior - more stuff to add. Green was a mix of OD and Khaki, to try and match WW1 british army colours.

landyshah - January 24, 2012 04:27 PM (GMT)
Pulun over CNY and I'll say the kit is done. Remodelled officer figure from ICM and pigeons from Hauler. Weathering was a mix of pastels and MIG pigments, bird poo collected from outside my window  Will build a small display base for it.

Very interesting build for me - WW1 subject have their own charm. Even tho this airfix kit dates to the 60s, it is a pretty good build. Some artistic licence on the interior taken due to lack of detail refs, but I tried to match it best as I could to the (3!) pics available.

Apologies for any flaws, thats it from me for AFV GB :D

yaminz - January 25, 2012 12:14 AM (GMT)
