Title: Ma.k- Krote

nitevision92 - June 23, 2012 01:58 PM (GMT)
Decided to have a little break from airplane models, so I built a Ma.K model bought from back before I knew there was such a thing as recasts.

I didn't really like the long barreled design of the PaK Krote -plus the resin part was screwed beyond hope anyway- I decided to build a close support Krote, designed to advance with infantry and blast open fortifications at short range. So I replaced the gun and scratched some hip armour and smoke dischargers. Raided the spares box for the radio antenna, mechanic figure and other misc. parts.

The current setup depicts a mechanic wearing heatproof mittens resting on his machine after a particularly hard day's work.

bro

u did a good job with the paints, mechanic has a suitably 'dirtied' face.

a coat of matt varnish would tone down the satin finish of figure tho'.

keep it up.

:D

Excellent. Can you show us how you did the weathering?

Hey ryoga,
No photos of the process but here's how it was done:

1. Flat Black base
2. Flat Earth shading (random spots and places I want to weather)
3. Cam. Colour 1 (Grey)-- This colour was sprayed in a random pattern to reveal the (mostly) Flat Earth and Flat Black in places. Some other parts like the feet recieved even less gray paint.
4. Mask camo pattern
5. Cam. Colour 2 (RLM74)-- Did not fade with Cam. Colour 1 because I wanted the camo pattern to stand out.
6. Oil paints for staining and wash (should have done a bit of chipping but was reluctant) Bolts on other side of turret recieved rust treatment with custom oil mix.
7. Pastels

Same process for the mechanic except he was painted with a brush.
