Hah ! Gotcha ! laugh.gif Wonder why Hornet made this one take off his pants and strap them to the backpack.

This is my contribution to the Merdeka exhibition. I'll send it to a friend. It's a metal kit but doesn't come with a base as most metal kits usually do. This base is resin and from some Jaguar kit. The only one I have so it'll have to do. Water is made from clear resin and other wet areas is Future. Folliage is dried moss and a twig. I can't make trees or anything taller coz there's packing to consider.

I call this 'The Retreat' Australian Infantry, Malaya 1942. The discarded British 'battle bowler' and single boot from my plastic spares are attempts to lend more support to the title. Colored pics of the actual uniforms and gear were my painting guide.

Fire away
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

As U never fail to surprise me.... what a nice painted figure in a little vignette!!!

If I'm not mistaken, I did come across this classic war photo of the real person couple of years back.... If my rusty memory still functioning well, this is a figure of a Aussie Chindit in Burma Jungle took his pants off crossing the river...

Off with pants probably easier to spot leeches on bare skin. Add some sculpt from polymer clay or milliput. Spot on some blood streaks from leech bites.

Pm for 6/0, 3/0 0, 2, 4, 6 round pure red sable brushes from Japan if still seeking.

Thanks guys.

Pooh,
Yes, scratches ( plus leech marks and some dirt kicked up ) purposefully painted on. It's expected walking through the jungle. And glad I'll be able to make it this Merdeka as I missed the previous ones.

cp,
I noticed a few figure kits modeled after actual persons from archive pics. Yes, very Chindit like but can be used for any Far East scenario.

Becks,
In any situation or conditions we don't expect you to but guys can always dream...... laugh.gif wink.gif Excuse mischievious ol me but you walked into that one....

Loo,
Sure. Btw I still haven't received any member's log in name to access the site so it feels like I'm in but not really welcomed. T-shirt also out of stock but that's understanable.

Leong,
I'll be contacting you soon about the brushes.

Sil,
Ask Hornet laugh.gif biggrin.gif Our rivers OK for skinny dipping but wear extra protectives for your pecker in piranha infested South American rivers ( but I don't think it'll do any good ).

Allan,
Means a lot coming from you.

sky and landy,
You two and 102 others..... and counting...... laugh.gif

Cheers
Patrick

Patrick,
thanks for the approval. As for the password, we are having a problem at the moment assigning one. You are not the only one affected as I understand a number of members before you have yet to be assigned passwords too. Our main problem is that we rely on a single volunteer to generate the passwords as he is the only one who knows the software. He is tied up these last few months due to a new addition to the family. So... we cannot complain there.

David ( el-presidente) has made effort to follow up on this and we await his good news...

Cheers and remember to keep your pants on! biggrin.gif

Thanks for keeping me posted on the latest developments. OK, understood. I'll just have to take my place in the queue like the rest then. Btw do convey my congrats to the password guy.

Hey nice write up you did for the pics in the homepage. Everything real cool and I am honored my friend. You might want to take a second look at 'Her Majesty's Army' though. It was King George V's reign then wasn't it?

And, Commonwealth forces weren't overwhelmed. In fact we had a 3 to 1 odds in our favor as far as men were concerned. It was more of a cock up ( I learned this phrase from an Englishman ).

Prince of Wales and Repulse shouldn't have proceeded without air cover from carrier, Indomitable which got stuck and was damaged by reef.

The suggested pre emptive strike into neutral Thailand didn't materialise just because they had to be 'gentlemen'.

Old school and flawed tactics by blocking roads with anti tank guns proved a disaster when the enemy just outflanked them by using the jungle and sea.

No armor was assigned to Malaya as it was thought they were useless in jungle warfare. North Africa held a higher priority.

No one remembered to cut the power when Singapore was bombed and left the island fortress lighted like a Christmas tree.

Poor intelligence didn't reveal that the Japs were almost out of water prior to the taking of Singapore and should have held out with more tenacity against an enemy on their last legs travelling down the peninsular.

The final damage was the 150 or so thousand Commonwealth troops who arrived just in time to surrender and be sent to work on the railway of death.

Forgive my ramblings but it's just as fine a time to reminisce especially near Merdeka. The worst defeat in British military history and a bitter pill to swallow when you hear stories from the older generation how they had to endure the atrocities committed by a nation whom today expunged these facts from their history books. Come August 31st let us remember those who suffered and those who died defending this nation both during WWII and the Emergency. Remember Bataan and Nanking.
