Hi guys and sifus,

I'm very new to the Airbrush, totally no experience at all. but i have read some magazines, articles about the airbrush technique.

however, i think it is too wasting to use the model paint for the practices for airbrushing the lines, flow, control....

is there any other type of paint which is more cheap, value for the practices? which i intend to practice to spray on the papers.... drawing lines, control and so on....

It is good if you can tell me where to get those paint in Kuching as i'm from Kuching. Look forward to hear from you guys. wink.gif

In KL, you can use inks for practice. I am not sure where you can get them in Kuching. Got to check with my same name brother f100supersabre.

Hi, stkong. I never used inks on my airbrush.. maybe you can try Techno graphic? I think the best practice is to build more.. then airbrush. If not satisfied, do it again or practice and try to improve on the next build.

yeah, i very agree with your point and i would like to put a "like" on your reply too. Ops, the button is not here hehe... too much FB already laugh.gif

well, i would like to spray anything on the paper first before i go for the real model... just to get the feel first hehe... why? because i have nothing to spray yet at the moment, the model still under the putty for the gap processing at the moment even though it is the cheap China made one. but the fun is there just to make it properly. laugh.gif yeah, i have the backup one which is the original Japan made one.

well, hopefully can find some cheap media color for practices while still preparing the model. wink.gif

Not sure if it is practical or not but I would suggest you to get a can of industrial paint (cost about RM6 to RM12), de-can it into a glass bottle (empty thinner bottle) with some thinner (about 1/4 bottle) and you have at least half year worth of paint for testing purposes... my two cents... smile.gif

if i just take a normal pain (not the can) one... and mix with the thinner, will it be ok? wink.gif

in that case i can simply test spray for "song" only hahaha.... laugh.gif

I'm not sure on the result because I've never tried it but if it uses the same thinner base, I think it should be ok but to be on the safe side, I would suggest the ones that I recommended unless someone can advise you on using the normal paint.

u mean te 2 dollar tins?

can be used.....throw away all the oil until u get the base then use hardware thinner and poor inside stir nicely and airbrush.....cleaning use the same thinner......

but be warned.....the smell is terrible and safety items are needed ..... i have used these paints for diorama bases.....but as with everything mr b does pls take note....but i encourage to expirement....i even managed to get a chepo 10 buck flat tyre compressor to do basic airbrushing long time ago......better then spending lot on propallent cans

"disclaimer try at your own risk"

best regards

I have used Nippon Pylox especially flat black. It performs quite well and surprisingly durable. Their black is really glossy when sprayed from the can. Don't think you are gonna any problem when used through an airbrush. Just need to clean the spray head (or nozzle) thoroughly after used.
