Hi,
Anyone know where I can get decals in 1/48 for these two helicopters? I have two Minicraft 1/48 UH-60's that I am going to convert to these but can't find markings anywhere. They are available in 1/72 but I need them in 1/48. Thanks for any help you could provide.
Terence.

I have had no luck finding decals in 1/48 for these helicopters but I did start assembling the parts to make them. Even if I don't have the markings I will at least have some pretty colorful painted helicopters.

Here is what I have so far.
Japanese UH-60J pylons, tanks, tail rotor and main rotor assembly.

Taiwanese S-70C tanks, tail rudder, tail rotor and main rotor assembly.

Hope to see them completed

Thanks Mr. B,
I don't have the equipment to make my own decals. Painting the UH-60J yellow and white is no problem. I already have the Hinomaru and can get the numbers from decal spares. The Japanese writing on the tail boom and the insignia on the cargo door is what I really need. I can also paint the two blues and white on the S-70C along with the yellow and black stripes on the tail boom. I don't have any Taiwanese markings or the insignia on the tail. I can probably paint the red cross myself too.

I have these markings from my Italeri SH-60B but the first two characters are wrong. The last three characters are the same. I will figure something out.

If someone here has the 1/72 UH-60J kit, maybe they could scan it for you.

You can then blow it up to 150% to get 1/48 and print it on clear decal film.

Or better still, trace it with Illustrator and cale it accordingly?

Great work! The H-60/S-70 series is my favourite helicopter, although for the moment I'm partial towards the US operated versions.

Thanks F-4dable,
Thanks for the idea of either blowing up the 1/72 to 1/48 or tracing them on the computer. That definitely sounds like an option. I have to look out for the 1/72 decals and hopefully acquire some decal paper.

I normally build USN/USMC aircraft. I have already built 1 AH-1W, 2 UH-1N's, 1 SH-60B, 1 SH-60F and 1 MH-60S. I wanted something different than the grey. These two alternatives are very colorful and different.

Moving right along. I decided to use my already made Minicraft 1/48 MH-60S to make the S-70C. Saves time from having to build it from the start. The UH-60J will be a new build.

Here is the nose radar section for the Taiwanese S-70C. I made it from the Italeri MH-60K nose piece but had to scratch most of it to look right. I used Evergreen plastic and Squadron white putty to get the contour right. It is not exactly correct but close enough.

Resin nose section with radar and FLIR for the Japanese UH-60J. Bought from a company here in the U.S.

Finally got time to update. The UH-60J is almost completed and the S-70C still has about 25% more to go. I found decals for the UH-60J but still working on finding decals for the Taiwanese S-70C.

Japanese UH-60J has changed from JASDF to JMSDF. The yellow version is the JASDF but I only had decals for the JMSDF which is red/white/orange. The winsshield frosted when I used the CA glue on it and I can't get the frosting off.

Thanks Kwongyan,
The Taiwanese version is pretty cool. I need to learn to make decals so I can get it done. The Japanese version decals came from the Italeri SH-60B.

Your current builds are very colourfull and looking great too.
Q : Your Japs UH-60J, the fuel tanks in white? Earlier picture is in dark green, right?

Hi TigerShark,
Thanks for comments! Seahawks are my favorite helicopters. These latest two were hard to resist. The Japanese tanks were green. That was for Japanese Air Force. They use White/yellow/green paint. No decals in 1/48 so I switch to Japanese Navy. Decals came from the Italeri SH-60B. Their SH-60B and UH-60J use the same markings. These two are devoted to rescue missions from what I read on the internet.

Hi LooCK,
Here are some pics of my display. About half of the kits in these pics were built this year.
