Now I bet when you were a lil boy you probably had a little car in your pocket.
Chances were, it was a Hot Wheels or a Matchbox, no?
No guesses why I chose this kit then, yes?
So, like Ricky Bobby sez, let's SHAKE & BAKE!

user posted image
The kit is an OOP Revell minted in 1997. Nascar got too expensive so Revell stopped production in 2005 I think.
I don't know jack about Nascar besides the obvious Talledega Nights reference and Days of Thunder. I just like things on wheels that go fast. wink.gif

"If you ain't first, you're last!"
user posted image
I got corns on my fingers now cuz the kit had PLENTY of flash.
Fit is what you'd expect from a Revell - hope and prayers help.....somewhat.
The soft plastic is a plus point for me though, makes it easy to shave and cut compared to other makes.
Haven't glued the exhausts yet.

Interior/floor was sprayed Gunze 308, a guess to match the 'light gray' on the instr. sheet. Flat Black for the rest.

user posted image
The rear of seat was supposed to be Aluminium but I got lazy. Cockpit detail is OK. Used the decals for seatbelt. Hate x100 decaling on flat paint.

user posted image
Engine detail was quite intricate, don't think I'll do any more of these though. Curbside for the next one! I had to break off a piece to fit it in the bay and glued it back on.

user posted image
Wheels are vinyl and had a nasty mold line which I sanded with rotary tool.
After decaling the tires I found them tacky so I flat cleared it.
For the chinese speakers: spot the oxymoron! LOL

"I WANNA GO FAST!"

Body was airbrushed with TS44 (I hantam only, not because follow car number, heh) and TS26. Interior was Gunze 308.
You don't see it but the bonnet comes off.
The blue is actually darker if not for the cam flash.

user posted image
Hardest part was the decals - they were flimsy, finicky and put up a fight.
You may not see it but the whites aren't that opaque.

user posted image
True to the car's number - the trouble starts at the front. Should have sliced the front fender decal into three sections.
Sakit hati when the first tear appeared.
The pain continues with the ribbon design on the side skirt.

user posted image
Didn't allow enough give from the top of the #44 and when I brushed down the lip = disaster.
Oh well, live and learn.

user posted image
The side decal was actually one big piece from the Hot Wheels logo on the rear wheel to the #44. So I chopped it and stuck it on separately.
Saving grace - cuz the rear one was tricky too.

user posted image
Having endured the catastrophe on the first side I tried to be careful with this side, but I still got a small tear. Grrr.

user posted image
Ugly cracks on the front fender. Should I paint over the cracks? I considered putting duct tape over cracked patches - they actually do it in races. lol.

"Reecky Booby", I have come 'ere to defeat you."
user posted image
I shaved off the bonnet/hood pins. Four in front, including the bald spot near Mattel. Two on the rear.

user posted image
First time using these, what do you glue with? Do this after or before clear-coating?

One of the first decals I placed. Gave me a premature sense of confidence though, it went on easy compared to the rest.

Here's a sense of scale. It's a big boy alright - a limo compared to a Skyline R34.

"Help me Tom Cruise! Tom Cruise, use your witchcraft on me to get the fire off me!"
user posted image
A sneak peek sans windows.
Summary - it's a bucket of fun - except for the hateful cracks. They taunt me so. lol.
Debating whether to clear coat it or call it a day. Yes/No?

Thanks for lookin!

No update cuz hujan the lebat. sad.gif
Thanks for the words though dudes.

Sky - belasah only - no need worry. Just bash a few bits every other day, jadila.

Azlan - still on the fence, lol.

Druid, checked the build out. Great resource! Now know what the lumps on the kit are supposed to be.
The dude is a master - I don't think I'll ever have the patience or fortitude to detail a kit up to that extent. (that stash pile that keeps giving me dirty looks doesn't help either, lol)
Did you ever finish yours?

So, I finally finished the kit.

user posted image
Sprayed 2 thin coats or so of clear on it (didn't wanna waste it on the kit with it being a testbed of sorts)

user posted image
Window trims were done with a combination of airbrushing and black sharpie marker.
(masking was tedious what can I say?)

user posted image
user posted image
Used the PE hood pins for the front and back.
Curse my fat fingers...they're so tiny!
I think I lost 2 sets in the process.
Anybody know a good leprechaun who can help next time?

user posted image
Engine bay with the hood up.
Meh, not much to look at so I'll keep it shut.

user posted image
Well, there she is. Imma stick a fork in it and call this done.

On with the next!

Thanks for looking!
