Royal Malaysian Air Force Airbus A400M has arrived in Malaysia. Ladies and gentleman...Yes, you saw first here inside SMM. For those planning to build one, Revell has a prototype offering which is the same as this actual bird in 72 scale. I saw one in HHQ but I'm not too sure it's still available.

I present the Airbus A400M.

Thanks for the photo!

Just curious, is the aircraft operational or just here on a familiarisation tour. Bcos will the operational aircraft have the aircraft type number on the tail and body like that? And where is the tail TUDM emblem and squadron crest on the fuselage?

Does anyone have a clue of what will be the TUDM serial number type designator for the A400M?

For example, the F/A-18D serial numbers are M45-01 to M45-08. The type designator for the F/A-18D is M45-.

The latest (I think) type in TUDM service is the Boeing 737 with type designation M53. The EC725 is coming soon so it could be M54. So, unless something else gets in service before the A400, my guess the type designation would be M55-xx.

Thanks for the input, Hairil!

I also wonder if the TUDM will end up forming a new heavy-lift squadron to operate the 4 Grizzlies, as opposed to the aircraft replacing the C-130H outright.

Realistically, I suppose it could be a partial replacement - it will take over the C-130H's operated by one of the two squadrons.

Naturally, the oldest C-130H's will probably be the ones to make way.
