Hi Will,

I brought in a parcel with about 3 kits and didn't get taxed. I think it depends on your luck.

I used to get 2x 350 scale Tamiya Musashi & Yamato (weight about 5KG) in a single shipment and managed to escape the tax as well... I wonder if I dare the custom next round with 3-4 boxes in a shot...??

Can any unlucky buyers share their experience??? dry.gif

Hi,

From my experience, it is up to the custom officer discreption and also how frequent you import in as they sometime keep your record.

Of course it will be helpful if you "know" them.

You will notice you parcel is chopped "DI LEPASKAN KLIA".

At Kelana or KL post office, they will open up and physical inspect your parcel.

That is where it depends how lucky you are on that day!

i got many orders passed and couple of them blocked.

The criteria for high chances to be blocked:
1. Very big parcel
2. Very Heavy parcel
3. Total invoice value incl shipping over RM300

The size is the biggest issue. I did order something around RM600 but get passed, i think due to parcel is very light.

Mig21,

I think it's very unlikely the local post offices (KL or Kelana) will open the parcels once the parcels are cleared by KLIA. I though only the customs have the right to open and inspect the parcels? The post offices do not open parcels.

When the customs at KLIA open the parcels, they will seal with the special tape which proves that the customs opened them.

If it has happened to you at KL or Kelana post office, something shady might have happened.

This is all based on my experience. Really wierd that your parcel is opened by the post office.

Agreed with your comments Target_J, I am quite an active online buyer and almost everyweek, I'll received packages from my oversea sellers. Lately, I've been notice Custom @KLIA opened to check some of the envelopes and sealed it back with their official tape. Anyway, my last shipment of modelkits which comprise 2x Tamiya 1/350 ship came in smoothly from HK without any distruption at all.. just wonder wht is their (Custom) modus operandi!!! - Luck perhaps?? rolleyes.gif

Probably luck but I do think where it comes from and size plays a part.

I ordered a 1:48 Dornier 217 E-5 plus a few other small kits from Squadron and that got through untaxed. However, my order from Hobby Japan of 1:1 Alien Face Hugger, Nostromo & Sulaco got taxed.

Hi, willphang i don't think the items can be bided. As you can see all the items is only available in US. Means the parcel is wouldn't be allow to send it over to malaysia. Suggestion, if you really want to bid any items on ebay. You must double check the available location before you bid.

2nd, try to view out all the comment which customer provided then you can the supplier can be trust or not. At least must fine a 100% active supplier.

Wish you luck on your bidding... !! cool.gif

Agree with oldman saying....Make sure is from a 'trusted' seller. I have bought quite a number of items including model kits from eBay US and yes 90% i received and 5% MIA. Another 5% will be if the seller is understanding then he might refund you the full or partial amount... wink.gif

If u are unsure and wanted to try then do purchase 1 or 2 items instead and remember to convert the currency before the bidding and the shipping charges cos it might end up more costly then what you purchase over here...Purchasing model kits over mail is a risk also cos it also depends on their packing and you know how our post office handle the parcel tongue.gif .....

Just to share my experience...Bought a AMT/REvell F&F Mit.Eclipse at eBay US and upon receiving found that some part are broken...Anyway is cheap when i got it...Rm45 with shipping..here selling Rm159 biggrin.gif

Hi PcEvo and Oldman smile.gif , thanks for your kind advice. I actually very keen to bid but finally "shy" away as the price elevated toward the end. Yes, buying from reputable sellers is always in my cautious mind. I actually have a close relative resided in US and occasionally both sides will travel over for vacation. I just thought of buy it over and stock up in US while any one of both sides may travel over to bring it back to KL soon...(SAVE COST !!!!!!) laugh.gif
