Met up with Allan Chew recently and he reminded me that this bird is still 5% away from completion. Took the time to complete the canopy painting and the results are here.

blurry close up of the cockpit side walls added from bits of plastics and some knobs cut from cylindrical beams and what nots. Revell did not provide any.

the airbrush shading for the camo before washing with turpentine to give it a bit more weathering contrast later.

Will definitely complete it this weekend so I can concentrate on the next project, a SLUF in 32 with Zactoman, Aires and Eduard thrown in for taste.

cheers

A "two-faced" Phantom, WOW!

Trust you to come up with something unique always, CK.

Hmm..... wonder if we'll get a chance to see it "in the flesh". tongue.gif

Loo,

Don't forget to collect your F-4 coffee mug for this build.

This time, even the virtual build participants who finished their F-4's, or at least nearly made it are also eligible.

Good build!

Split right down the middle. Hahaaa

You might want to touch up the instrument coaming before sticking the windscreen & canopies. And the intake splitter(?) too. Looks like a wee bit of blue went yonder?

Gents and friends,
The bird, for those who have it in their inventory requires some fundalmental adjustments to get it more accurate if you are a sucker for pain (like me):

1) change nose radome ( but you cant find them anymore in the market
2) cut and slice the cockpit tub to get the rear seat at a correct height without the pilot suffering from no knee syndrome
3) add cockpit side panels
4) change front wheel strut
5) cover the air intake so that the inaccurate intake innards won't show
6) minor panel line work adjustments

Did most of the above except item (4) and (5)

The last piece of the missing puzzle will be to do a base split in the middle as well. Look out for that.

cheers
More photos tonite on the weathering process washing with turpentine and oils.

The standard 2 tone scheme gets a dirty wash with turpentine for the dirty look. This can give you a good trail effect

Selectively a bit of red or blue is added to the black for the exhaust nozzle

the wash on the wings.
The process is simple with dilluted oils in turpentine. Apply at the panel lines abd nooks. Wait to dry partially and wipe with tissue in the direction you want to simulate airdrag. On the fuselage you can simulate rain streak.

Becky,
I will put in panel wash too but using water/poster color instead because the decorative scheme needs to look clean. Turpentine wash if not cleaned off properly in a not perfectly glossed surface will leave a dirty look. Maybe some photos tonite or the poster panel.

Cheers

This bird is completed and these shots show the progress of the wash panelling with some rather dirty work and more point streaking at the later stage. Will post the completed works this weekend. Officially the only completed built this year. Way off target. At this rate I need to grow to 200 years old to complete my collection!

cheers and happy modelling.

ps: fire still there and its in ember mode

Very nice progress on your Phantom Mr Loo - I especially like your in progress panel line work - I wish my panel line work was as neat as yours
