{IN A NUTSHELL}
NEWS is a group under Johnny's Entertainment, formed in September 2003 with 9 members, singing the 2003 Volleyball Championship's song. Their sudden formation took everyone by surprise as many of them had barely spoken to each other in the past, some didn't know each other, and Nishikido Ryo and Uchi Hiroki were also members of the Johnny's Jr group Kanjani8 at the time. By their official debut in 2004, one member had left, leaving the group with 8 members. In July 2005 and January 2006, two members were involved in incidents of underage drinking (legal age in Japan = 20) and were promptly suspended from the group. This saw NEWS left with six members and the group was on hiatus for the remainder of 2006. At the Johnny's Countdown 2006-2007, the return of NEWS as a 6-member group was announced and the world was happy again.

"During the press conference for the recently announced Fuji TV drama "Isshun no Kaze ni Nare," it was revealed that Hiroki Uchi and Hironori Kusano have officially graduated from their "trainee" status within Johnny's Jimusho.

Both Uchi and Kusano were removed from their groups and demoted to trainees after being caught for underage drinking. They finally returned to action in last year's musical "PLAYZONE."

"Isshun no Kaze ni Nare" marks Uchi's graduation from being a trainee. Johnny's currently plans for him to go forward with a solo career. Meanwhile, Kusano is still attending Hosei University, but preparations are being made for his own full-fledged return. No definite plans have been announced yet.

At the press conference, it was also revealed that Saki Fukuda will co-star with Uchi in "Isshun no Kaze ni Nare," and Ryo Nishikido will make a guest appearance."

[Sveta] UM. News articles are being their annoying vague selves and there's no direct mention to Uchi or Kusano returning to their groups. Some articles mention them working on their solo careers, but the highly stressed out panicking hopeful fangirls don't know if that means they'll only be acting or going back to music with/without their groups. SO YEAH. HMMM much... *bites fingers*

I just finished Attention Please today and will attempt to continue with Yukan Club... but I'll start with Poposal Daisakusen at the same time. ^^ I'm sure Proposal Daisakusen will be better than Yukan Club. ^^;;

The two other more well-known Ryo dramas are Ganbatte Ikimasshoi and Attention Please... the first which is just about the worst J-dorama I've ever watched. ^^;; Attention Please is alright~ I would only recommend it if you have nothing else to watch and in desperate need of Ryo-candy. XD

Back to Uchi and Kusano~!

Haven't seen Kusano at all, in all this chaos. Uchi went straight to NEWS' concert after his press conference yesterday and as I mentioned earlier, went out with NEWS during the encore. Ryo announced Uchi's upcoming drama there and also that he would be making an appearance in it. ^^ Kusano is still attending Uni atm but we'll probably hear about his comeback in not too long. ^^

I read the synopsis to Uchi's drama and it sounds kinda confusing. ^^;;;;

Ah... Attention Please... I totally forgot about finishing that... watched a few episodes and then... I just forgot haha, maybe I should get back to it. wow Stacey... you're quite a J-Drama addict...

I quite like Koyama Keiichiro's jeans from all the perfs, his pants are different to the rest of the band members in all the hoshi wo mesashi-te perfs you linked me :P Random thought haha. Oh yeah, and Masuda reminds me of Honey-sempai in Ouran LOL

CODE is an AWESOME song! I hated Ryo's performances of the it months before the album was released and was sob-facing because his solo was such a weird, screeching, WTH-song. But then I heard the studio version on the pacific album, and I fell in love with it instantly. XD Dreams is on the Akaku Moyuru Taiyou single (RE/LE... I can't remember). Maybe you could try Stand Up! (not the rock version on the touch album) as well, I'm really into that song atm. That's on Kibou~Yell~ single, if I remember correctly.

Ohhhgawwwsh. NEWS pairings can make me @_@. I'm keeping this straight, here. XD Ryo and Uchi are like best buds, attached to the hip (almost) since their Junior days and even with Uchi suspended for so long, they're still really close. Ryo adores Uchi. <3 Apparently Massu was the only one who actually knew who the heck Tegoshi was when NEWS for formed... and they have their special unit, TegoMass, so that's another pair. Now that Uchi's outta the picture, Ryo and Pi who were also good friends during their Junior days (and Pi admits to pretty much only knowing Ryo when NEWS for formed), so they go out and shop and whatnot a lot too. Koyama, Shige and Kusano were in the Junior unit K.K.K before NEWS, so they were also close. With Kusano suspended, it was just Koyama and Shige. And then... people like to fangirl Shige and Ryo... and Tegoshi with Pi/Ryo/Shige/Massu/Koyama... because he's Tegoshi and a girl, and throw-any-two-members-together-and-you-got-yourself-another-pairing.

I tell you. NEWS fandom can eat your brain away!

(And in the earlier songs, you might notice that Ryo and Uchi always sung with each other and even their parts came after each others... and they were always together in the PVs. Same with Tegoshi and Massu (sometimes Pi joined in, cos he had no one he was attached to the hip with). The three K.K.K boys were always singing together + together as well. XD)

There are tons and tons of fansubbers (small and big) that sub NEWS clips... ! You can check LJ comms like jfansubs... or generally any subbed NEWS clip will get posted at news_jpop anyway. ^^

In other Kurosagi movie related news, the movie photobook came out and it looks really good. :D

^I saw the photobook and I agree, it does look really good! And I'm glad the Kurosagi movie was picked up for subbing too so I guess we just have to wait for the DVD release, then a few weeks and we can watch it (and understand if we don't know japanese!)

Shige's new dorama Hokaben, and Ryo's new sexy dorama Last Friends both started recently. =) Ryo plays an abusive boyfriend and Shige plays a lawyer. Win. Oh yeah, Pi's Proposal Daisakusen SP also aired a while earlier... =)

Oh wait. TegoMass also have a new single coming up it seems... another song for an anime.

[Sulin] I don't think it was really confirmed that Snow Express would be released... they introduced it as a new song of their's at the N.E.W.S. concert... but I would expect it to be released on a future single (probably a December-ish single XD). Rainbow, which was released on the weeeek single was an old song of their's, I think. I LOVE Snow Express and would love to see it released on a CD too... except I wanted a PV because Tomopi rapping is the hotest thing ever... but I guess that would be impossible now ;_;

I thought about buying the Summer Time cd but I just bought a bunch of stuff a while ago, so I think I'll have to wait... But now that I've seen the PV it makes me want it that much more! It was fun to see all the different things the boys did in the PV!

I've watched the first episode of Last Friends and he completely freaked me out at how suddenly he changed from being nice to scary O__O Haven't seen Hokaben yet, waiting for subs :)

I recently got into NEWS because of their single 'SUMMER TIME'...

I really like the song because it's so catchy...

anyways, I think Masuda Takahisa is really cute when he smiles! XD
and I like Nishikido Ryo, I think he's really playful...

and I noticed in their interview in HEY! HEY! HEY! that Yamapi is a serious person... it's like he's doing all the stuff seriously...

but I don't know much about them since I just got into them recently...

can anyone recommend to me other NEWS songs that is like their song 'SUMMER TIME'?

^Mmm... Some of their songs on their "Touch" album are more poppy if you're more into that.

Otherwise, I really liked their more recent singles like Hoshi wo Mezashize, Weeek, and Taiyo no Namida. They're nice but less bubblegum pop.

!!! I didn't think there'd be a NEWS thread here! NEWS is my second favourite JE band behind Arashi. SUMMER TIME is such a happy song, I couldn't resist buying the single.
