| Monday, June 12, 2006 By Mark Bialczak Staff writer Bo Bice forever will be an "American Idol" in the minds of all the fans who watched the singer come in second to Carrie Underwood on the 2005 version of that TV show. That's why the "Idol"-crazy fans pushed hard toward the stage Sunday at the 93Q Coors Light Balloon Fest, presented by Nice N Easy, at Jamesville Beach Park. Some even held up homemade signs for their hero, as they do in the TV studio. Bice showed Central New York he'll forever have a whole bunch of Alabama in his heart. "We've got some colorful people in the South. They call us rednecks," Bice said before launching his band into the closing Lynyrd Skynyrd medley. "This is for the northern rednecks." They played "Sweet Home Alabama," for Bice's home state, and the Southern rock iconic song "Freebird" as if they love them dearly. |
