Gypsee - August 12, 2006 12:48 PM (GMT)
I've read Suedel's recap of this awesome concert and so sorry I had to miss this one! Anyone else there want to share? It seems this was one of the truly amazing ones, not that they all aren't, but I am hearing great things about Chicago!

My guess is too much of this cheerstoya plus a lot of this sugarmoney_rocks and now they are all probably doing this sleepysmiley
jahmom - August 12, 2006 11:03 PM (GMT)
OK, so I'm sitting here in my house with Laura (Twnk), Sandy (Sandana) getting scolded by SOMEONE who shall remain nameless but her initials are KAP nana_booboo to get our recaps up here on the forum, so here we go....
For the sound check, they did Angel From Montgomery and Voodoo Child , which I was suprised but THRILLED to hear and of course was AMAZING! thud For the M&G - Bo picked a great outfit to wear and he didn't seem nervous at all! When it was my turn to meet Bo, I held out my hand to shake his and said "Hi Bo, I'm Jackie," and he took my hand and said, "Hi Jackie, nice to see you again." When he put his arm around me to take a pic, I did a double-take and said "Again? Do you recognize me?" and he said "Yes, I recognize you!" YAY!! I had him sign my S$ shirt, but we were only allowed one autograph so I guess I have to go to another show to get my other pic signed. The card on my camera was full so Bonnie (BonBon) took the pic for me - THANK YOU SO MUCH! - so when she sends that to me I will post it!
The doors to the stage area opened at 7:30 and there was a pretty good crowd there at the start, but during the wait and while Saving Jane were playing the place started to really fill up. My sisters came to the show as well and they had a BLAST!! (I'll have to get their recaps from them later today - LOL) We were standing in the back, at the bar and I admit a lot of the concert is a bit of a blur because I had maybe just ONE too many screwberry's B) and my sister kept my cup full for most of the night, but what stands out MOST in my mind are WWT - WHOA! what an ending to that song! - and of course FREEBIRD....BO BICE & SUGARMONEY ROCKED CHICAGO!!! headbanger Since we were so far back, my concert pics are all pretty blurry but I have a few from the soundcheck so I'll post a link to that later.
After the concert, the band came out for awhile, and that was pretty cool - it's always great to be able to say hi to the guys (and get hugs) and it was pretty cool to be able to introduce my sisters to them as well! Coop was wearing a REALLY COOL t-shirt so I got a pic with him. They all were in great moods and we had a great time.
As for my S$ family, there was lots of laughing, good conversation and questionable picture-taking - we had a BLAST!!! (Sorry Chris - I can't take Jim ANYWHERE....)
I'll add more later as I think of more stuff!! Gonna go take a couple tylenol now.... *paperbag*

Jackie, that is so cool that Bo remembered you. Thanks for the re-cap. I'm glad you had a good time. cheerstoya Rest up so you can tell us more.
TexasBoFan - August 13, 2006 12:45 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the recap, Jackie, it sounds like everyone had fun! Waiting to hear more from others... :)
twnk - August 13, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
Chicago woo-hoo! It's one hell of a town.
My chauffer, James, picked me up at the airport! *driver* What a guy. We made our way over to Joe's and met up with Jackie. It was great hearing all about her M&G. There was a line-up outside Joe's since they didn't open till 5:00, but it was great catching up with everyone while waiting for them to open the doors. grouphug
I was lucky(?) enough to snag a M&G from the radio station. I brought my calendar for Bo to sign. Radio station M&Gs are MUCH different than the fan club ones, much less personal. 1 item, no posed pics, no convo, just sign and move on. I totally understand why though, there were ALOT of folks there for that M&G. There was a young girl (9 or 10 maybe) behind me who brought her "wedding album" for Bo to sign. It was really cute seeing how excited she was to show the album to Bo. It had their "marriage license" in there, pics of "her dress" and "his tux". I wish they had let us hang around because I would have loved to see Bo's reaction.
I had decided I wanted a bit of a different experience for this concert and stood a bit further back than I normally do. Watching the crowd reaction was fascinating. The longer they sang, the more frenzied the crowd became. I loved seeing the show from this viewpoint. For me, one of the high points was hearing Willing to Try. The arrangement was different than the CD, but in a wonderful ROCKIN' kinda way. I think the sound from further back is much better. BUT I did miss being up close and personal and being able to see the expressions on the guys faces.
On this trip, the concert was an added benefit. I had an absolute just having FUN!. I haven’t laughed so much or so hard in a LONG time. Getting groped a few times made sure boosted my ego too. I really needed this weekend. Meeting Jackie's sisters was a BLAST. Just imagine Jackie's laugh in stereo!
Thanks guys for another great show!
ETA...Even though I didn't wake up till 11:30 Saturday morning, it wasn't because I drank too much. Sandy's just *fibber*
kap - August 13, 2006 12:54 AM (GMT)
Woo Hoo, Jackie! Sounds like a fun and memorable meet and greet for ya! Can't wait to see the pic of you with Bo (and the one with you and Coop)! :D
I'm so glad they did the new ending of WWT for you guys! It's truly awesome to see, isn't it?
Can't wait to hear more about your night! Oh, and what's in a screwberry? I'm assuming Vodka, but what else? Sounds delicioso!
Twnk, sounds like you had an awesome time too! Awww, I wish I could have been there to see all the groping! ;) Oh, and the show would have been fun to see too!
I love to watch the crowd too. It's a tough call because being up close is so much fun and the expressions the guys make are so fun to watch, but getting to take a step back and pan around to see how everyone reacts sounds very cool too. And like you said, how the crowd became more frenzied the more they sang - I saw the same thing at Fort McCoy. Very very cool!
How absolutely adorable and sweet is that "wedding album" story? Awww. I bet it put a big smile on Bo's face.
Thanks for the recaps, ladies!

Good friends, good music, lot's of alcohol...... beer_cheers Boy, Jackie, Laura And Chris can really toss down their booze, all I'm sayin. :ph43r:
I so enjoyed meeting up with all the friends I've found along the way. It was a great feeling sitting at Joes, looking around at a bunch of great people. ( Missed you like crazy Grace. I heart you) It was also nice to meet online friends face to face for the first time.
THEY PLAYED WILLING TO TRY!!!!! Woo Woo Woo!!! It sounded awesome, that was a huge highlight for me. And WWT absolutely rocked out the house........Shane was all over it..........just wild. Coop was pretty freakin fired up too. Really, really, really good.
The guys were really in a feeling it mode. Lot's of energy, and feeding off of each other. They were all over that stage.
I have to add that I love Chicago! I have always thought of it as a huge urban scary city, which I'm sure it can be, but there are so many flavors here to savor. I can't wait to come back. Keep the light on Jackie.
I just have to add, Jackie and Laura just left me here in charge of Dan and Jim, and I’m really scared. They are mouthy when they get together, JEEZ.
As to the drinking, I admit I was feeling no pain, but I did NOT grab Jackies boobs!!! I hope Dilfans pic was very, very blurry………….
I had a great time. I am still having a great time.
Every show I go to reinforces to my why I am on this train. Bo Bice and Sugar Money Rock! And even more important, WE ROCK!!!!!!!
bebe - August 13, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the recaps!! I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear that they performed 'Willing to Try'. I only hope that four weeks from tonight I get to hear it live. It is, and has been from the first time I heard it, one of my two favorite songs on the cd. Bo's vocal at the beginning of the song stops me dead each time I hear it. Looking forward to hearing it live!!
Sounds like a great time was had by all!!

Yes, sugarmoney_rocks and to all the SugarMoney fans that were there hootin' and hollerin'.... you_rock

Yep
I can just picture you guys now - drnkin, gropin, laughin and snortin (that's for Yew Sandy) ..... well...... doing whatever it is that happens when 'two or more gather" :P
Great recaps - I did catch WW&T on an alien cellcert and it sounded GREAT! Really hope they perform it again Monday on Block Island.
And I get what you're saying about listening from near and far - Both are good experiences and have their advantages.
So glad you got your M&G Jackie - of COURSE Bo remembered YOU - from WAAAAY back.....
So keep up the good stuff gang, and spend the rest of the weekend sobering up . Jeez...

I am having so much fun reading this stuff. Sounds like you're all still drunk.
Thanks for all the love and calls - I really feel like I was there. Well, not really, but it's close.

all that you hoped it would be and more.... It's kind of cool that
everyone gets together, (either again, or for the first time).. has an
absolute blast, and as an added bonus, you all get to go to a great
concert. Just doesn't get much better than that....

It sounds like everyone had a fabulous time...I live in the Pacific Northwest so I have to live vicariously through all these great re-caps. The little girl with the "Wedding Album"...man, thats priceless. I'll bet that encounter is something Bo will always remember, and I'm sure he handled it with perfect sweetness...bet the little girl is still floating on cloud nine!

WUNNERFUL!!! WUNNERFUL!! sO MUCH FUN JUST TO HEAR ABOUT IT. fRAN
fastglass95 - August 13, 2006 04:08 PM (GMT)
I knew there would be an advantage to doing a late recap. My girls have it all covered already! I just need to add that I so agree with what Bill said. We have so much fun together that sometimes the concert is just an added bonus. It's nice that our husbands get along so well and I think they have almost as much fun as we do.
I thought I could handle the "city" having been in downtown St. Louis many times, but Chicago is way more city than St. Louis is! People were everywhere and the traffic sucked big time, but the area we were in was fabulous. Lots of nice houses and condos and stores. I need to go back when we have more time to wander.
My favorite part of the concert was definitely Willing To Try. Just love that song and was soooo happy to finally see it performed live.
I had the added bonus of finally meeting an on-line friend from AI Season 1 at this concert (ChicagoBeth). We've been "talking" on an MSN group for four years now and it was so nice to finally meet her in person and this was her first Bo show! I might have never have found you guys without Beth, because she posted the link to the old SugarMoney.net site in our group. I''m gonna cut & paste a little bit of her recap in from our AI group below:
I personally didn't care for the warm up band but Bo and Sugar Money are great! (I have to say tho that the acoustics left something to be desired.) They did a little over a hour, including 3-4 songs from the album, a couple of Skynyrd tunes, Vehicle. They did one of the best versions of Freebird I have ever heard. Those S$ guys are incredible musicians!
It's always so much fun seeing a "newbie" at the concert being blown away by Bo and SugarMoney. And, because Jackie is such an awesome person, Beth and I were both able to "meet and greet" Bo with the radio station M&Gr's. For me it was kinda wierd because as Twnk said these are way different than the website M&G and very impersonal, but I was happy to be able to see Beth meet Bo for the first time. She was pleased that he looked so healthy (she has that mother instinct like we all do). So THANK YOU JACKIE . . . YOU ROCK!!!
Meeting Jackies sisters was a hoot (wooo, wooo, wooo), they were a lot of fun and I think Jackie might be the quiet one LOL!!!
There should be some interesting photos from that night and I'm particularly intersted in seeing the one we finally took of Sandy/Dan, Jackie/Jim & Myself/Tom together. We make a motley crew LOL!
Jackie, no worries. The cab ride home was some funny shit. I haven't laughed that hard since the last time we were together. I *heart* Jim, tell him he can "braid my hair" any time he wants to LMAO!!!
I finally got to meet a few of my sisters that I haven't met before (Ken & Mr. Ken, CindyT and Susan) and was happy to meet them. I cetainly missed you Grace . . . I was so looking forward to having a beer with you again, but I cetainly understand that "family matters". Sharon, you have a wonderful sense of humor and your "charm" was pefect.
I think I may have scared poor Heath. Was trying to talk to him a little and the music was loud and I was trying to ask him if he had gotten in any vette time during his time off and I think he thought I was asking him if he got any bed time LMAO! Poor guy had a deer in the headlights look on his face until I spelled out what I was asking him roflmao!!!
Coop said to me "hey I saw your husband earlier in of all places the bathroom" LMAO! When I asked Tom about it he said he was gonna shake hands, but they had both just stepped away from the urinal so he thought better of it LMAO!!!
I can't wait for St. Charles!!!
jahmom - August 13, 2006 04:58 PM (GMT)
Chris, do you mean this one?? (I'm bummed it came out so blurry!!)

And then there was this unforgettable moment, when Dan & Jim were mauling you and Jim licked your face......

Man, we had a great time, didn't we??
I just wanted to add a few things that I skipped over when I did my recap. It was great to see all my friends again and to finally meet a few that I haven't met yet! When we get together, it's like we've never left each other and that is censored awesome.
It was GREAT to hear "Willing To Try" - at first I thought they were going to do a Bon Jovi song because Bo was talking about being appreciative of Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, so when they broke into WTT, all of us went nuts!!
Bo and the band sounded GREAT, tighter than ever and Shane's drum solo was off the hook!! GO SHANE!! And what was the COOLEST part was how Bo, Kris, Coop and Heath were moving all around the stage - those boys were feelin' the Chicago love, I can tell ya that!!! They have such a good time on the stage and their energy is infectious! It always amazes me how the people in the crowd who seem to be like "yeah, whatever" at the beginning of the show end up with their arms up in the air and screaming their heads off by the end of the show. THIS IS A GREAT BAND and to see them live leaves no room for any doubt of that!!!
Another note on the sound check, when we were lined up for the m&g, we heard them playing WWT (great ending!!) and then Bo broke out into "In A Dream" - I wish we could've seen him singing it but to hear it made me realize once again what a PHENOMENAL voice Bo has. I'm glad I got to hear it!!
I'm sure I'll remember more, so I will be back...........................
E - August 13, 2006 06:57 PM (GMT)
This was the BEST show EVA! The energy coming from the stage was enough to take my breath away many many times.
It was so much fun seeing the friends I've met over the past year and an absolute blast getting to know some of them better. And anyone who says sleep is necessary has obviously never traveled with this bunch because not only did we NOT go to bed at all on Friday night but we then turned around and had a great time on Saturday night too. Great God in Heaven you know I love (all of) you!
Hey Jackie - let's start begging the boys to go back to Chicago! That's one fabulous town you live in!

OK, that makes me VERY happy!! Not that I am held accountable for the City of Chicago but being that it's my hometown, it really makes me feel good that not only was it a GREAT show, but everyone enjoyed being here!! I'm with you, Elizabeth, they NEED to come back!!
And now, the moment I had been waiting for (and THANK YOU to Bonnie for sending the pic to me today).................

YAY!!! bohug
ChicagoBeth - August 13, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
Geesh - I don't think I've been in this forum since it moved! Shame on me!!!! I think Jackie and Chris pretty much said it all - the concert was awesome and it was so great meeting Chris (finally!!!!!) and Jackie and Sandy and, oh dear, I'm having a major senior moment - the other names are escaping me. Well, Chicago IS my town (in fact Joe's is maybe 10 minutes from where I live) and I'm so happy to hear that you all loved Chicago. You can't beat it if you like big cities. And how about that weather I ordered up for you guys? That is about as perfect as we get around here. Thanks again, Jackie, for the M&G with Bo - that was a very fun and unexpected highlight. I watched the concert through the haze of a lingering virus (which is why I left right after the concert), booze, etc. but what struck me most - other than Bo's voice of course - was the unbelievable talent of S$. Each one is SO talented and together they just rock the house! I really didn't like the acoustics as Chris posted from our other group - but what can you expect in a venue that size - and I'm really looking forward to the day when I will see them in a more concert-friendly venue. I should probably also add that I am ultra sensitive to acoustics - both of my parents were in the music business and I have an extremely sensitive "ear". headbanger I must say that the room was full of TRUE Bo fans - and if they weren't when they walked in, they sure were by the time they left. My friend, Paul, now thinks Bo and S$ are about as good as it gets and is a real fan for life I believe! I watched from the back of the room with most of the other ladies, but he worked his way up to the stage and just rocked out! Thanks, everyone, for welcoming this absent Bo fan with such open arms. It was great meeting all of you crazy people!

Love the pic, Jackie!! And thanks for arranging such a great concert. Can you arrange more...please? ;)
I bet you all didn't think I was going to get there, did you? I was beginning to think I was not meant to come because of all the obsticles I encountered. When I got inside and saw those wonderful familiar faces...well, all was well. Thanks for making all the crap I had gone through just melt away. I had a great time. The concert was absolutely wonderful. I didn't notice anything about the accoustics, but, hey....I was just digging the energy in the room and on that stage! What a high!!
It was a great evening. I loved seeing everyone and also meeting new people. Jackie, your sisters are great. I'm so happy they had a good time.
Grace, it took me several minutes to realize that you were not in the room. I kept looking for you and wondering where you had wandered off to. I'm so sorry you were not able to come. I love you and miss you.
It was great relaxing and cooling down after the show with everyone. Man, it got hot in that room!! We didn't leave until the staff at Joe's turned on the lights....kinda hinting that we needed to get out of there. What time was that?....2? Anyway, those of us who were catching the shuttle to make the early flight for Columbus only 3 hours later decided just to go out to breakfast and forget sleep. It was hilarious....when you get tired, you laugh at everything...and we did. I laughed myself silly.
Concerts like these are what it is all about to me. Good music, good friends....it just doesn't get any better, does it?

Oh my freakin' gawd.
That is literally all I could say for the next 15 minutes after the end of the hottest Sugar Money show I've ever seen.
Bo has always been a star, blazing his way across the stage. Chicago was no different. He storms his way in. He takes you prisoner, gently, forcefully, sweet, tender, hot, powerful, overwhelming you with purity and authenticity, throwing his entire body into his song, taking everything he has and was and is and launching it bodily to the sun and moon and stars and everyone in between as his emotion rains upon us.
Kris has grown into the star guitarist we all knew he was destined to be. His guitar is his outlet, his voice, his cry, his plea, his rage, his passion, his bendition, his peace. He gazes upon it, orders it, demands it. He strokes it, caresses it, then his arm comes slashing down on it hard, and harder, and makes that baby scream out his frustration and rawness and joy and happiness. Armed, he paces, he glares, he strides to the very edge of the stage and locks his gaze with the audience and dares them to not feel.
But Chicago was the first time that I saw the entire band launch into star status, as a unit.
It was a newly physical and ultra-strong Coop, running to challenge everyone in turn, jumping off platforms, throwing himself into his bass, crouching inches in front of us to play to us directly for a few, grinning from ear to ear.
It was Tommy with his hair and hands flying as he added beauty and sensitivity to the slower numbers, and soul and a wonderful rootsy touch to the rock.
It was Shane with the longest and very best solo I have ever heard him do, kicking up his game and knocking it out of the venue.
It was Heath alone, and with Kris, with Bo, with Coop, migrating, playing against them, playing with them, playing for them, heads and shoulders together, meshing his big heart and smooth touch with his brothers.
And it was the audience, screaming uncontrollably, jumping in rhythm, crying out, reaching out, beating the edge of the stage with bruised bare hands, absolutely overcome and energized by the incredible direct injection of positive energy flying at them, into them.
For a few intense, unforgettable, mind-blowing moments Friday night, we all became part of the band. There was no band vs. audience. There was only one us.
It was live music at its very best.

Well, Chris, I can't wait to see all the dreamy photos of fangirls with Kris ...and Mr. Fastglass and Mr. Sandana subtly in the background, spoiling all the pics! They very swiftly moved in to several pics, totally straight-faced and all! What a hoot! |
Yes Karen, they are sneaky mofos, I'll give them that!

For a few intense, unforgettable, mind-blowing moments Saturday night, we all became part of the band. There was no band vs. audience. There was only one us. It was live music at its very best. |
Patty, do you write romance novels in your other life? If not, you should.
You rock and you most definitely write a passionate recap.

Just an FYI - I am going to send a message to Steve & Joey at 99.9 FM (the station that was giving away tickets and m&g's) to tell them what a great show it was and to get these guys back to Joe's (or at least somewhere in Chicago). I'm also going to send a message to the station itself.
Here's a link to their MySpace pages:
Steve & Joey9FMMaybe you guys would want to do that too?? Spread the word!!
They were very cool, they check their myspace messages regularly and I NEED THEM TO HAVE THESE GUYS BACK HERE!!
YAY!!

I'm sitting here admiring the pic of Bo and Jackie and I suddenly realized...OMG, that's the shirt I gave him in Vinton! It has Bob Marley written on the front along with a Jamaican flag and a pic of Bob Marley on the back. OMG, OMG!

waving Um, ME!! Man, Patty. What a description.
We KNEW we were in for a HAWT night the minute Kris hit that first riff. He was already in the zone and ready to take us higher!! I just stood there with my mouth open, entranced at such energy at the START. It was raw power from that point until the last chord of Freebird. Coop was on FYAH, engaging the audience on both sides of the stage. He would run to our end, waves his arms, roar at us, then run back to "his" side. Heath is a thing to behold when he gets going. He gets that look on his face, that, well, it's like he's, well....it sends me over the edge. Organic. All I'm sayin'.
Shane. Shane. Shane. His solo mesmerizes me. I become breathless, literally. I'm without words to describe how it makes me feel. It takes me to another place every time. It's gotten longer, stronger, and more powerful. Now, I don't want to make anyone feel bad, but he said it did that just for MEEEEEEE!!! LOL Bo must be SO proud of him!
Tommy, to me, is the elegant, classy part of the show. Don't get me wrong, he ROCKS, but he has such talent, such skill. He gets to play the "beautiful" parts and it brings such balance to the entire show. His grace at that keyboard is unmatchable. Gotta love him slinging that beautiful black hair of his, too!
Songs: For me, the highlights were WW&T, WP, WTT, and of course, FB. WW&T blew the place out of the water. Wow!! Very exciting and energetic. Hope there's some video out there of that.
:ph43r:
Do I say this every time? This was THE BEST they have been. I agree with Jackie. I think one reason they were full of heat was because of just coming from their incredible night with LS. How could they NOT be on top of the world? Wow. Just think of it, that had to be the ultimate experience for them.
Everyone was in such a party mood after the show. Heath, Tommy, Coop, Kris--all having a great time just mingling with us crazies. Some nights I feel like they do it because they feel they have to (don't get me wrong, I don't think they hate that!) but Friday night, they were having a GOOD time, laughing, dancing, singing, just having a party!! It was one of the most fun (or is that funnest?) nights EVER!
I even got Shelly to let down his hair! <_<
Bliss - August 14, 2006 07:33 PM (GMT)
Thanks Sharon!! Sounds like a GOOD time was had by all!! And dancing? Bet that was cute! :)

That sounds like so much fun. The only band member I met was Kris - and I was amazed by how down to earth he is - really a nice guy. I'm so glad they all got to relax and party with y'all. Sounds like it was quite a night! yaysmiley
