Title: 9/30 FallsFest, Wichita Falls, TX
kap - October 1, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Since our Wichita Falls attendees are probably still sleeping (or still drunk, knowing the crowd that went  ), I'll start off the thread with an online review. Can't wait to hear everyone's stories! Sounds like it was quite a show! :D

Bo knows guitar. Bo knows vocals. Bo knows rhythmic gourds. Bo Bice, taken out of his "American Idol" context, knows how to play a bit of everything, from guitar to maracas, and showed the kind of versatility at FallsFest on Saturday night that television audiences didn’t see on the popular television show.
Bo also knows charisma.
Despite only one radio hit under his Alabama belt, Bice drew a few thousand fans to Lucy Park as the main stage act for rock night at FallsFest, dubbed the "festival for y’all." He attracted at least a row of enthusiastic, screaming female fans to the park, too. |

Dang it, right now I'm much like Kap doing brick_wall wondering why the heck I'm in Jersey and not in the big old state of Texas watching Bo shake those maracas yaysmiley
Bo also knows charisma. . . . gee, you think? must be why there's always so much thud going on at these shows!
He attracted at least a row of enthusiastic, screaming female fans to the park, too . . . ummmmm, I've been to these shows and there I'm sure there was waaaaaaaay more than one enthusiastic row! It's so good to see positive feeback like this in print . . . more people need to discover what so many of us have known for so long now!
Thanks for posting Kap!

OK, i was fine 'til the debbie downer fest here. LOL. OK, no I wasn't, but it's nice to see I'm not alone.
I'm just gonna cross my fingers peace_man that they loved playing LBB so much and that the reaction was so HUGE (and that their mission in life is to please MEEEEE) that they HAVE to play it at every show now...INCLUDING MINNESOTA.
Yeah, sick of me yet? LOL.
You Wichita Falls peeps better get your tushies back here before this thread gets out of control! :ph43r:

a ROW? a single ROW of enthusiastic females? what, are they kidding or just nearsighted? I'm sure that's why there were thousands of screaming fans there, cuz all Bo could attract is a ROW.
That is hilarious.

Kathyc -- Pour me a glass of whatever you're having.
It is hot in Texas I hear and it sounds like Bo and Sugarmoney are doing their part to make it HAWTER.
Ah well, in Massachusetts today, I woke up on my boat, cold but happy. The sea ducks were gathering by the thousands along the salt marshes in the stillness before the storm, and the wind was singing and stirring up the water. I put on some coffee and Recipe for Flavor.
No headbanging for me today.
But I'm glad that elsewhere this glorious summer of Sugarmoney rocks on.
Have a blast my dear friends!

This concert was off the hook. It was a long set, it was good music and we were all blown away, not to mention that Bo had so much energy. Zoo said it reminded her of Bayfest and it did me as well. They have come so far and they sounded awesome. Shane's solo during Whipping Post is extended - it seems almost twice as long than before but you get really absorbed and forget time. Very impressive.
The crowd reaction was fantastic. The crowd was really mixed and there were so many ages there, really old people (like me and Sharon *roflmao*) teens, young kids and even babies. It was obvious they were into it.
Sorry I haven't posted any photos - I hit the ground running today - up at 4:30 to catch a flight and teaching until 9:30. I don't have many - it was too hard to put a camera in front of my face - but I will post what I have as soon as possible.

Well heck,
if Coop can play Kris' guitar in St. Charles,
and Kris and Tommy switch places at another show earlier,
and Bo hands a song over to Heath...
anything can happen up there. And we love it all. rock_on

I did see an old redhead videotaping much of this show, but unfortunately she got busted and had to give up her tape. :( She was robbed. No announcements were made about videotaping, there WERE NO TICKETS to say no videotaping, not a sign anywhere. I'm just SURE she didn't know it wasn't allowed. Damnation!

I wanted to take a moment to thank the people from SMFF for a great weekend. Your kindness in sitting in the hot sun saving spaces for the late-coming forum-type people, even those of us not regulars to your "home", was greatly appreciated.
I loved meeting each of the new people I met, and as always it was great seeing those I had met before. Hugs to all! huggin
ETA: Sharon, that redhead was ROBBED! (And much younger than you give her credit for ;))
CAMPFIRESKY - October 3, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Arrived in Texas in the morning. Kevin and I got to spend some quality time together. We visited Dealey Plaza and the 6th floor Kennedy Museum and then had an AWESOME STEAK lunch. No Veggies.... Just Steak and potatoes with fried onions and mushrooms.. As it should be. After checking into the hotel near Kevin's home town, we were off to pick up the rest of the crew at the airport. I did not see anything in the papers about any disturbances on the airplane, so they must have behaved themselves.
The next morning we were off to Wichata Falls. Our bus driver took good care of everyone and we all really appreciated it. The Falls Fest was a small festival, with food and some rides for the kids. As I am typing this, I am realizing... I never did see the "Falls"......
TEXAS IS HOT!!!! And enough crap about that dry heat BS..... It's just darn HOT!!!! Once the sun went down, it was great weather for a concert. (Jeannine, Thanks for the Sun Block!)
Again it was fun to see the gathering of the fans, from all different boards, all there to have yet another great time. I'll leave the details about the Meat 'n Greet to Kevin. Needless to say we all felt that this was "his night" and it was great to be there with him and for him.
After the fireworks display the boys were on and they were ROCKIN'. If Bo was not 100%, he sure was doing a great job of hiding it. The Wichata Falls crowd looked to be in the 2000 - 3000 range to my eye. (but what do I know?) I got the impression from hearing people talk that this was a very big crowd for this festival. The crowd response was fantastic. Lots of arms in the air, kids on shoulders and smiles on faces. It was great to see.
Seeing these guys perform really fills me with a sense of pride and admiration. There is a genuine chemistry between the 6 of them.... The playful taunting and tongues, and smiles during the performance just makes the music feel that much better. (BTW: Shanes guitar Solo was GREAT!!! *roflmao* )
After the concert, it was a loooong drive back to Kevin's hometown, where the hotel was. I think we got there around 2:30AM. Getting up the next morning for Dallas was a challenge. The good news is that it was only 15 - 20 minutes away.
zoo - October 4, 2006 05:21 AM (GMT)
It was the very best. Yes...Bayfest and better. It sure showed how the experience of this past year has paid off. It was absolutely wonderful. Can't thank Bo enough for Lonely Boy Blues....I was in heaven.
The crowd seemd huge. I think that they were definiately won over. So much enthusiasm!
Yes, the heat was......hot. You are welcome, Bill, for the sunblock. All I can say is that I as grateful that the canopy at the stage shaded us for quite a while. So we didn't burn...but we sure did sweat. We were told that it is usually hotter than that. I guess I'm just a wimp, plain and simple. I do have to complain about this one bee who happened to think my lunch looked good. I really didn't want to share it and I had to go back to the stage rather than sit under a tree. Stupid bee.... ;)
It was great meeting new people. I love how all the forums get together and show support.
I guess I'm out of words. And, yes...I think that Kevin needs to talk about the M&G. It was his idea and I'm so happy it went well.

The Texas Leg Of The Tour
Friday night after all of the gang had been picked up from the airport we headed off to Johnny Carino’s Southern Italian for a bite to eat. I felt a little spoiled getting to hear the St Charles recap in person cause it made me feel like I had been right there with them. I’ll tell you what though, it sure beats waiting to read about it. We stayed at the resteraunt for about two and a half hours talking about old times and new times and then headed back to the hotel to call it a night.
Saturday morning felt great. I hadn’t seen Bo and S$ for a while and the anticipation was killing me. I got to the hotel about 10:30 and Zoo, Sharon, Susan, Pam, Grace, Bill and I headed off to Wichita Falls. We did make a quick and very necessary stop for ice (I mean beer) and then it was West Texas here we come. It is about a two and a half hour ride, but luckily I had my wife’s Mini Van equipped with a trusty DVD player. (Can you say Dual Disc)
We got to Wichita Falls at around 1:30 and happened to make a pit stop at the same place that Bo and the boys had stopped at not that long before. We didn’t even have to say why we were there (and we would have) when the clerk proudly announced that Bo Bice had stopped there earlier to pick up a few things. Of course we now know exactly what Bo purchased and was wearing after some fine detective work by the girls, although I would be lying if I told you that I actually remember what. We got some final directions to the park (I know Bill, print a map before you leave) and headed off to Sugarland.
The actual festival grounds weren’t all that big, mostly just a couple of kiddie rides, lots of food vendors, a beer tent Yeah) and most importantly a good size stage for Bo and the boys to perform on. It was about half a mile or so from parking to park, so they had little busses that looked like Trolley cars and tractors pulling trailors with wooden seats to shuttle everyone to and fro. When we got there we saw Jeanne and Susan G and staked out our territory right up front there beside them and dug in for the long hot wait ahead.
We brought a gift basket with us that was full of all kinds of Texas things, along with some BBQ for the guys.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k162/ira...mber2006019.jpgUpon coming to the realization that the chocolate covered pecans in the gift basket may well melt in the mid 90 degree heat, I had to take the basket apart a little and put the chocolate and a Texas shaped piece of cheese in the cooler. The cooler was already full of Meat and beer and when I opened it, it occurred to me that I must take action if the goodies were to be protected. Pam and I decided we needed to take one for the team, so we sat in the air conditioned mini van and drank enough beer to ensure the chocolate and cheese would be safe in the much cooler atmosphere of the now quite roomy cooler. (LOL). It was a brutal job, but someone had to do it. After we felt confident that the goodies were now safe (and we were feeling quite refreshed) we headed back to the others and tried our best to find any shade that might be available.
*One side note - I did offer the key to anyone else who wanted to help protect the contents of the vehicle.
They had a local act come on and play one or two songs (not bad) and then a band called the Mammals played. I hate to admit it but I missed the Mammals as I suddenly felt the need to go back to the Van and insure that the internal temperature was just right for the goodies. (and that the beer was still cold too) I also needed to bring the basket and the BBQ to the park as the Meat N Greet time was quickly approaching. I did see most of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and they were great. They have several really great songs and people seemed to know the words, so that part was alot of fun.
8:30 rolled around so we grabbed our stuff and headed off to the place where we were told to go for the Meat N Greet. We waited by a stand where they were selling Bo T Shirts while Patrick checked his list, put on our armbands, and guided us off to see Bo.
Right before us in line was a little boy who was so excited to see Bo and Bo all but had his chin on the table so that he would be eye to eye with his pint sized fan. You could just see his eyes glow as he talked to the boy and we were all pretty touched by Bo’s interaction with him. We were last in line and when Bo was done talking to the little boy (he gave him extra time) Pam went in first and gave Bo a picture some of us had taken with him from our first trip to New Hope. She told Bo that it was mine and backed away as I brought him the basket. I gave it to Bo and handed him the card (links below) and then gave him the Box with the Meat in it. I told him that we knew how much he loves BBQ and that it had been safely kept frozen in it’s journey. He then started to tell me about the little grill they have as if he were thinking out loud about how to cook it. I informed him that it was all precooked and that a Microwave and BBQ sauce was all that would be required to partake. I told him that it was from all of us to all of them, and he seemed to really light up at that point. He thanked me for the gift and I told him that we all love him. Thanks to Bill, Pam, Zoo and Sharon as they all gave up their own Meat N Greets to help carry the stuff, give me extra time with Bo and take photos of him receiving it.
The set was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sad as it is I hadn’t been to a concert in way too long and I was blown away by the show that the six of them put on. We were all right up front and it was awesome!!! I had never heard the country song before, but now that I have I love it. I had also never heard UMMB "Live" and that for me was a very special treat as I absolutely love that song. I love it even more now!!!! WWT was also quite a treat. I had heard it before but not the way it is now. I agree that it could well become their signiture song. I loved it all as a matter of fact. When they played "Sinner" I felt really moved (most of you know why) and the bond I felt with my S$ sisters and brother was stronger than ever. Shane's drum solo was as awesome as others have already mentioned and Kris, Coop, Tommy and Heath all sounded awesome too. They looked like they were really having a good time up there playing for all those people. Freebird sounded incredible to me. I always viewed it as a sacred song but to hear Bo and the boys play it, is beyond anything I can find the words to write. It was just amazing.
Thanks to everyone who came to Texas (including Bo and S$) and made this such a great day!!!!

Thanks for the recap, Kevin!! Now I know where you were when you and Pam disappeared for so long. Such a hardship in that cool van with the beer...I'm so touched at your willingness to sacrifice like that. *roflmao*
Bo was so thrilled with his gift. It was a great idea on your part and I'm grateful to be able to contribute to it and help you deliver it. I hope that the guys enjoy all the goodies. They will certainly get a great meal out of it.
