I'm not pissed at all. There are probably reasons he doesn't play original stuff that we haven't heard yet (copyright...upcoming projects, etc.). But, I do think he's played songs not on the disc before, not at every show, but has played them - Whiskey, SIAS, C&N (those are on dual disc), Ain't Got Money, Only Words, Lonely Boy Blues (even though that one was sadly missing from the Burlington set list dry.gif ) etc.

Like he said, he tries to feel out the crowd to figure out what the set will be and kinda goes with the flow, and so far, it seems that crowds dig it all. I do think the covers work great for those who may not know his original or TRT songs as well.

I'm sorry you thought anyone was pissed, Topkat - because I'm not at all. Was just replying with my thoughts on the subject. huggin.gif

I signed the petition when I read what Bo had said about it, but I have to honestly say I didn't think much of it, or that it would even get as far (or have as many signatures) as it is right now. Even so, I don't think this petition is going to help or hurt his career, except possibly give fodder to those who consider him less-than-talented (as that Rolling Stone blog suggests). Bo needs his fans to push his career? Hardly. Clive Davis has been in the music business way too long to have ever bothered with Bo if he didn't think it would pay off.

I do think the support for the petition made Bo feel pretty good that something he thought was a good idea was jumped on by so many people so even if that's all it accomplishes, it's a good thing (a good thing).

Just my 2 cents.

Jackie, can I commission you to write all of my posts from now on? You said exactly what I was thinking in such an eloquent way.

I don't know about the rest of you (maybe this is where Jackie should write again!) but I'm kind of sick of this petition. Maybe we should join Keelakat (Linda) and others on promoting UMMB to increase sales. Increased sales = happy Uncle Clive = (hopefully) Bo getting more cred at the bargaining table smile.gif

I think that everyone has to do whatever they feel most comfortable with. Anyone who doesn't want to support the petition shouldn't feel obligated to do so; those who do want to support the petition should equally feel free to do so. The beautiful thing about the threads re: petition is that for the most part they are isolated from other topics (although I've noticed that some people - both for and against said petition - bring the subject up in almost every conversation, post, etc.) If the topic is kept to the petition threads then those who oppose it are NEVER forced to read about it.

Can we have a little "live and let live" on this subject? Because let's face it - it's like many other "hot topics" - we're never going to convince the people with opposing views to see it our way.

And I'm all in favor of supporting TRT and UMMB!

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I am perfectly capable of doing both, supporting the petition and promoting UMMB at my local radio station.

That is how I feel. I didn't realize it had to be an "either/or" type of situation.

Sorry, just trying to lighten things up a little bit and I failed. Of course noone is "forced" to read anything. And, Chris (& Jeannine), you are completely correct - of course people are capable of multi-tasking (and supporting both or supporting neither or whatever) if they so desire.

It is just sad to me that this became such a divisive topic. In general, I don't think the solution to divisiveness is building walls (I've talked about this topic before in terms of politics) or limiting discourse. That is just my personal world-view, and I respect that others feel differently.

In any event, I do support Bo and his song-writing. I'd love to hear more of his original music - whether it's on a cd, through his website, or at concerts.
