Coop’s long awaited & anticipated announcement--Posted - 06/04/2005 : 23:20:20

1st – Joining us tonight is the one and only Shane Sexton.

2nd – I want to personally introduce and welcome a new brother into the mix. His name is Kris Bell. Kris just moved to Nashville from San Diego and is one of the best damn guitarists that I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Me, Kris and Shane are working on a 3-piece project while Bo fulfills his AI obligations. So there’s a good chance that we will be playing a few small shows around the TN and AL to keep our chops up.

As you may be aware, we had the chance to go and hang out with Bo last night in B’ham. Yes, the rumor is true, a reporter from Rolling Stone tagged along with us all night last night and we had a blast. They are planning to do a 2-3 page layout in an upcoming issue, so that’s pretty cool.

As far as Bo’s new Mustang, WOW…………what a car. Words cannot even explain how bad A%# it is. He took me, Shane and Kris for a spin yesterday and it’s a very sweet ride. If you want a true explanation of just how bad this car is, ask Kris…………….Kris is an ole motorhead at heart and loves Mustangs.

To answer the BIG question:

Yes, we are STILL a band. As far as us being Bo’s “touring” band for his album: that is still undetermined. HOWEVER - We will absolutely, positively continue to write, record and perform after Bo gets off of the AI tour.

That’s about it for last night. We will be hanging out with Bo again in the near future, and we will keep everyone updated on what’s going on.

So, with that being said please join me in welcoming Shane and Kris into the forum tonight. We will hang around as long as our eyes will allow us. We had a very long night last night followed by a 3 ½ hour drive early this morning.

What’s on your mind?

p.s. Carlos Santana has asked Bo record a duet with him.

Shane joined us all a few seconds (and several pages) later at 23:25:03.
Whats up people's
Glad everyone is here and in good spirits on this great saturday night. Im here and ready to talk

Coop--Posted - 06/04/2005 : 23:48:33
Thank you, thank you. I am going to float around is this forum and answer some questions that are posted. Please understand that we are being flooded with traffic. But this response from you is what make Bo Bice and SugarMoney what we are.

Coop explains how he & Shane met Kris— Posted - 06/04/2005 : 23:57:18
One word will sum this up......destiny.

But the story goes like this. Me, Shane and Kris play together in a rock-country traveling circus sometimes. And Kris came to audition for an open guitar slot.

And here we are.

Shane explains what Sugarmoney means-- Posted - 06/05/2005 : 00:03:21
Sugarmoney is:
Money accrued by investing or winning the lottery

Shane, answering what Bo will sing for his appearances-- Posted - 06/05/2005 : 00:12:01
Im not sure what songs he will sing on what show. schedule changes constantly, it is hard to tell

Hey y'all,
Thanks for the awesome welcoming! Sorry it's taken me this long to reply, it's packed in here! It's great to see all the love and support for Bo and S$. I'm so excited to be playing with these guys! Coop and Shane are two of the baddest jammers around!
To answer your questions,
My main influences are Skynyrd, Allmans, Clapton, SRV, but I listen and learn from pretty much style of music.
I started playing guitar when I was seven and started writing songs when I was fourteen.
I met Coop and Shane through a couple of other musicians who were looking for a lead guitar player for a country cover band.
We should have some pics and a bio of me up on the site in the next week or two.
Thanks again everyone. I'll be hanging out with ya for awhile tonight so don't be shy!

Kris, on his musical influences
Posted - 06/05/2005 : 00:31:41

Yeah,
I love Cash, Willie, and this guy named Townes Van Zant. He was BAD! Very soulful songwriter and great guitar player.

RE: Townes Van Zandt— Posted - 06/05/2005 : 00:50:35
You're Awesome! I have "Rear View Mirror" my truck's CD player almost daily!

Kris— Posted - 06/05/2005 : 02:43:30
CCR was one of my Dad's favorite bands. I grew up listening to them. They've been a great influence on me since I was a kid.

Kris— Posted - 06/05/2005 : 03:22:08

Hopefully we'll be playing everywhere y'all want to hear us!

Kris -- Posted - 06/05/2005 : 01:19:18
Actually, Kris Kristofferson is who I'm named after.
I guess I was destined to play music from the beginning.

Kris-- Posted - 06/05/2005 : 01:27:04
Right now, my two dogs are my kids. Come August though, we'll be welcoming our son into the world!

Shane-- Posted - 06/05/2005 : 01:01:03
Good question!
We all have the most wonderful wives there are so understanding and when you wedlock a musician music wedlocks you

Coop-- Posted - 06/05/2005 : 01:13:02
I think I can speak for all of us here.

We would not be the men we are if it were not for our wives and their support at home.

We consider ourselves lucky to have had them put up with US so long. Why tear that apart?

Picture this: All of us - wives and kids included - hanging out, grilling steaks, setting sun, playing acoustic guitars and enjoying life. There's no amount of money, fame or groupies for that matter, that will destroy that.

As far as the lovefest.

MUCH LOVE to everybody.

My friends have quit the band (we're all in our 40s now) but we still have all those memories - just hanging out, playing and listening to great music...life really can't get much better than that. My "props" to you guys for staying grounded - that is REALLY rare nowadays.

I'm a guitar fanatic. I love guitars and have a serious addiction to them. I can't stop buying them. I play Gison and Fender electrics, (Les Pauls, Strats, and Teles). I have four Les Pauls, two Strats, a Tele and a who bunch of others lying around the house.

When I started, I learned on a Classical, Nylon string guitar. I studied Classical for the first five years. It helped build the dexterity in my fingers and proper right hand picking technique. Studying composers like Mozart and Bach also helped me learn to read music and understand chords and melodies. In my opinion, for young players, learning on a acoustic or nylon string guitar is very beneficial. A great instructor iis also helpful.

Kris— Posted - 06/05/2005 : 03:17:16
I've seen these Esteban comercials, but I'm not sure about all that. You can find good Acoustics at any guitar shop. Really, it's how much you put into practicing that makes the difference. My first guitar was a $100 P.O.S. (Posted - 06/05/2005 : 03:29:43 , P.O.S. Piece of Sh..)

Yeah, there're a few FITH bands out there. We actually own the trademark to the name, but those bands keep using it anyway. It's all good though. And thank you for welcoming me into the band.

Kris— Posted - 06/05/2005 : 04:06:29
Thanks, I'll try to check it out tomorrow. Well, my third Clapton CD just ended and it's 3am out here. I hate to leave so soon, but I think it's time for bed. I've got 3pm band practice tomorrow and have to be ready to rock! Thanks to each and every one of you for making this such a special night for me. I've enjoyed every second, talking with you and getting to know each other. We'll be doing this quite a bit, I'm sure of it. Take care of yourselves, and each other. I'll talk to you all again next week.

These are great - that reference to the two Black Crowes song was cool - I have almost all BC's CD's but lost Southern Harmony, so I really appreciated Coop mentioning "No Speak No Slave". If you don't have any BC albums, I highly recommend!!!

It's cool to see some old familiar names, too!

Awww, that was just what I needed this morning. What fun memories. Just getting to know Coop and Shane, meeting Kris for the first time. It was fun to see "my" question there and answered by Coop and Kris. They were so sweet and grateful, it still really touches my heart.

And, Kris--he hung in there for hours. I remember at the time thinking," Wow, this is cool that he'd spend all this time with us." And, he STILL loves to do that! How cool is that?

It's always fun to look back on the beginning of a great friendship.
