got a call from his Dr. and was told that his PSA was 28 and he has to see a urologist in two weeks. This is a dangerous situation as when a man has a psa of more than 4 it can mean problems. Please keep him and my Mother in your prayers cause I will have already gone to take care of my SIL when they go to the other Dr. It is not only a blow to the person it is quite a bombshell to the rest of the family as well.

Cathy, I will be praying for your father and family. When DH had a slightly elevated PSA I put pumpkin seeds in front of him and said, "EAT!"....even now after all these years I still keep pumpkin seeds within his reach (next to his lounge chair!).
Please keep us posted.

I will definitely be praying for your Father Cathy. Jut remember that this PSA thing is a money making business and often is nothing to worry about. My Niece worked for a Urologist and said she had seen them in the hundreds with no problem. The say that sometimes the bioposy if they do noe can cause mor problems that it is worth. Please read everything you can on the internet medical files before Dad does anything. DH had it done and it was very uneccessary. It is liken to a yeast infection that a woman can get but easily gotten rid of. A man does not get rid of it. I keep Olive leaf extract in the house for that and there has not been a problem since. It gets rid of yeast, which is nothing more than a fungas.

Sorry to hear this Cathy. The others are right, most of the time, it isnt all that serious. Hope that is the case for your dad too.

Cathy, please know that I feel your fear, but I have to say along with the others, that this reading may, or may not be reason for panic. We, as well as many of our friends have recieved news similar to this before, and in the end found it to be an error. We talked seriously with our family dr. and the urologist before we did anything drastic, and in doing so....found that the two most often misdiagnoised tests were... the PSA for men, and the PAP test for women. I am not making light of this, and believe me, I will put your father on my prayer list. I just don't want you to fall apart with worry until further tests, and another opinion are done. wub.gif
