Ground...swell...
By John Oates Published Monday 13th March 2006 10:24 GMT New year, new job? Click here for thousands of tech vacancies. The campaign to stop AOL charging to guarantee delivery of emails is growing with more than 500 groups and almost 37,000 people signing up. The opposition, organised by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, launched in early March with 1,500 individuals and 50 groups. AOL and Yahoo! announced in early February that they would charge businesses a small fee for guaranteeing delivery of email. Free emails will still be allowed, but will have to jump through various spam filters - the paid-for mail will head straight to your inbox. AOL insists the move will help stop spam. It will start testing the service later this month. ® Read -------------------- |

I hope they dont enforce it either. Would be terrible. I use email to talk to kids and other friends in Mn too. Costs too much to use the telephone all the time, and then usually forget something when I am talking with them. Not cheap to send a regular letter anymore either and then takes a week for anyone to get it and another week to get a letter back if you are wanting answers to anything.

Personally I can not stand AOL, but you got a few people that had rather fight than switch, Aol has lost a pile of members cause they are so high on their prices and because they put roots in your systen that you have to go in and dig out .
I edited Lou's register for 1 1/2 hours the other night when I helped Cathy get DSL installed and I still didnt get it all out, but I was tired and quit -------------------- |

but will have to jump through various spam filters
So you give them money and then there spam gets to you because they let it pass jump through various spam filters and then your inbox gets filled with more spam. -------------------- |

That is AOL for you. I had Netscape web base email from the start after getting online and then I seen it all turn to hell after AOL took over and seen that they keep a history of all my pass email.
Funny that you delete it but then they show you what you deleted when really all they did was keep you from getting to the email. So why did they even let you see a history? -------------------- |

I use Netscape that is on my PC but I was taking about how netscape webmail that was good but got really bad after AOLHELL too over.
I stopped using netscape webmail after seeing what was going on. Plus they changed so many things and was making it hard to get around to your own mail and all the help links etc were dead and if you emailed then you got no help. -------------------- |

I did not like AOL. I had a conversational run in twice with them and told them I would never use AOL again!
