like house call used to be to scan your computer and remove a virus?? Every sence I checked and install a couple programs on Normas computer the other day I have been so bumbarded on the other laptop with avast jumoping up and it wasnt removing the trojan that I pluged into her laptop that I finally wipped the whole thing clean and will start over with it . I plugged the same thumbdrive on this one to clean it and all my pictures on it was messed up so I let it remove everything it found and seems it may still have a problem or something , I dont wont to lose things on this older laptop so I was wondering if there is a place I can go and get a scan on it .

I went and got stinger a free Mcafee tool and ran it and it found one trojan and removed it smile.gif smile.gif
Now I got to figure a way to clean my thumb drives (2 of them) as I have already formatted the new laptop and I will start over with it and take my time and get it right laugh.gif laugh.gif

Jane, yes there is, and it is called Eset Online Scanner, and is far better than Housecall ever was. It is excellent.

Well I got rid of all them finally and I reformatted the new laptop and I just finished deleting everything on my 2 32gb thumbdrives to make sure there is nothing on them again either.
I did use stinger to clean the other laptop and it is working like a charm I am going to keep stinger a standalone that mcafee puts out, I use to use it a lot then got away from it but I got the new updated one and used it,
Boy it is a bad one to named win32/sirefef.v That thing got on my images, folders and name it and it stuck like glue, Avast put it in the vault but everytime I tried to open a image or something it was right back in my face 17.gif 17.gif
Now I got 2 clean computers and 2 completely emptied thumbdrives so I may have lost a few things but better than losing everything . I am going to back up my files on the 500GB hard drive later today and have them in a safe place Doh.gif Doh.gif

Think I would set that puter up to run eset, anyway, because sometimes, things can seem to be clean, but have a tiny part lurking that can cause a lot of problems.

If you have a problem with virus in the future, best thing to do is download the free program called Rkill and run it first. It runs very fast, and you barely see it. What it does is kill any virus running in the background, so it will be able to be found by Malwarebytes, and Eset scanner.

Cat, I've been using Eset's products for quite a few years now.

I consider their products to be superior. Over the years, they've consistently won awards from Virus Bulletin, an independent on-line antivirus magazine.

My own experience has been a consistent blocking of malware.

I quite agree, Morris. Housecall was very good, when it first came out, but then came Kaspersky which was much better than Housecall, and now we have Eset which is much better than any that I have tried.
