Use color tags [color=insert color name here] and [color], but put a / in front of the word color in the last tag.

No. It is spelled COLOR, not COLOUR.

Put text between [color=teh color here] And [(insert / here)color]

You're doing it wrong. Put the text BETWEEN the tags.
