On Saturday, October 17, 2009, we will be hosting an Apocalypse Megabattle. It will start promptly at noon so be there early. It will last until 7pm. Bring a 3000 point list. If those 3000 points are painted you get an additional 300 points for your army. More details will follow. Deus Maximus will be running the event.

Ooh! Neat! What all is useable? Are the Bell of Lost Souls rules okay for Armorcast stuff? Since forgeworld has experimental rules for the Reaver titan do we use those or the Bell of Lost Souls rules (and so forth for anything that crosses over from BoLS to forgeworld rules)?
I'll try to be there! -------------------- What is most terrifying is not that humanity is not alone in the whole of space but that, of all life on all the planets, humanity may be the most evolved and the most intelligent.

Could you place a link for both? I would like to know why there are two sets of rules. I dont see a problem with it off the bat. Miles uses his Gargant and I think those rules are from BoLS. My big thing is to have evenly pointed sides. Sons of Anarchy and Defenders of the Just must be equal pointed to make a good game.

The Armorcast/BoLS version uses the regular weapons that the warhound has and has a higher points cost while the forgeworld one has a lower points cost, a couple less structure points and has its own new and more powerful class of weapons (aside from the carapace gun, which is the same as the warhoud ones.)
Links will be up in a minute, just have to hunt them down Forgeworld "experimental" rules: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/pdf/reaver.pdf Okay, Bell of Lost Souls has changed their site and I can't find a damn thing on it!!!!!! I'll take a pic of the reaver rules I have and post it here tonight or tomorrow. It basically has the same stats as the forgeworld one but I think it has 9 structure points and 6 void shields and is 1500 points...and also just uses the same weapons as the warhound. That's if I'm remembering correctly. I'm not going to bother trying to find things on BoLS anymore. Glad I printed it all out ages ago! Finally found it...and they changed it all around http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2008/09/pla...battle-v20.html Here's the problem, this thing is only available as a huge PDF and the two Reavers are on pages 13 and 14. Basically I think the BoLS ones are meant to represent the old Armorcast Reavers that are very obviously armed with the same weapons that a warhound has while the forgeworld rules represent their reaver that's armed with the super giant new class of weapons that can fit on the giant Reaver chassis. My recommendation would be use the BoLS rules for old Armorcast Reavers and the forgeworld experimental rules for the forgeworld model if the BoLS rules meet with approval, and I can't see anything wrong with them--just make sure to state that it's the 5.0 rules from Lords of Battle, NOT The original rules and that people need to use the "Hun" or the "Goth" version which will immediately tell people (like myself before I finally found this thing) that the Reaver rules of a year to two years ago are not even legal anymore from BoLS. However, if someone happens to take the time to modify the weapons on an old Armorcast Reaver to look like those on the forgeworld Reaver (or just pays $300 for three Reaver weapons from forgeworld...which you have to do anyway since it doesn't come with any weapons -------------------- What is most terrifying is not that humanity is not alone in the whole of space but that, of all life on all the planets, humanity may be the most evolved and the most intelligent.

It sounds like the BoLS is more intuned with a balanced original rules set. I will go with those rules then. I would say use rules for what you have. I dont know about the conversion of an armorcast/Forgeworld model, thats up to the owner of the model.
My events are all about lining up models, pushing them forward, and making Dakka Dakka noises. If I see another flight of Valkryes, and the other side isnt prepared, ill make sure the balance the playing field. -------------------- = POOPIE! |

I'm pretty sure I can make it and looking forward to it! Is there a signup sheet or is responding here enough to reserve a spot?

The Sons of Russ will be represented there.

I just ask that all models be as WUSIWIG, as possible. I dont what someone to say "Im gonna shoot at your tact squad" and then the response is "No thats Calgar with his Honor Guard". It makes for a quicker, faster, friendlier, and better looking game.
Remember 3000 points using Apocalypse rules. If you have 3000 points completely painted, you may bring and additional 350 points for your army as a reward for showing your colors of war. The 350 is an aditional, and must not be contingent to your 3000 points. Meaning, you cant use the 350 to buy wargear for units of the 3000 points. Your 3000 point list must be a complete single army, and the 350 be additional support units. Sign up sheet will be at the store this coming Tuesday. If you cant make it to put your name on it or forget, remind me and i will put it there. -------------------- = POOPIE! |

Someone else on your team can always add another 1000 points to their list to make up for it. I'd be willing to make that great and noble sacrifice if needed

I was actually joking but check with Maximus. I think the idea is for players with at least 3k to play with no one player getting to use more (or less) but it's worth a shot. Most of us who would also be playing can easily field another thousand points.

One question since I just wrote out my list: the original post at the top says you get an additional 300 points if all your stuff is painted but a later post says 350. Which one is correct? I vote for 350 if that matters since I trimmed everything down to the bare bones to fit what I wanted in 3350

350 additional points is fine. Just remember that I did say that you must have a self contained 3000 point list. 350 are additional models, not the addition of wargear, powers, etc your original 3000 points.
Im not trying to get crazy about the points. I just want to keep it clean and fair so we can have a fun game. More info about restrictions and limitations of Strategic assests. I can tell you right now that only one player on each side may have obital bombardment, and only one play from each side may have a vortex grenade. I will probably have a vortex grenade since I did by the Lightning GW cod piece. Ask Kameron what that did? Did you know that you could fold a baneblade in half then string it through the eye of a needle? I do! The only cool thing I did the whole game. If you do not know my ideology on gaming, I just play for fun! No FTW at the cost of someone elses fun. If you do, I will level the playing field and you probably wont like it. So lets have fun fellas. Its a mega battle, not a GT. -------------------- = POOPIE! |
