In the vein of the bad anime thread, list what games you spend more time regretting than playing. Or just interactive pasttimes you detest on principle.

Romancing SaGa (PS2)
Rented this on release, and it now sells used for less than I paid for 5 days with it. I guess that's a testament to how many people believe it utter crap. Anyways, the exploration system is balls, the learning curve-a plateau, and the character designs-God-awful. Hideous. Eyeblight-ish.

Madden twenty-oh-whatever they're on (Every system)
I've never spent a lot of time with a Madden game, but the franchise embodies what is wrong with episodic gaming titles today. Sequels and rehashes far outnumber original content, and innovation and passion comes far behind marketability. EA even went as far as to exclusive-ify the NFL license, effectively drowning the capacity for ingenuity out-of-house.

E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (Atari 2600)
The game so bad, it won it's unsold cartridges a New Mexico landfill all their own. Slow, repetitive game play that will make you want to end yourself. Don't even emulate it.

ET (dur)

Final Fantasy 10 (there was more cinematics than game play)

Godzilla for the SNES

The Goonies for the SNES

I'm sure there is more but I can't think of any right now.

by Godzilla for SNES, I hope it really is different from the game I have: Super Godzilla (SNES). Not great, but I loved it. Especially the sound test where I could listen to the godzilla and Bagan themes.

Really, I despise nearly all sports games. And racing games. The ai cheats, especially in racing games.

EVERY GODDAMNED GTA GAME.

THE SIMS. all of them. ever. What people actually choose to simulate... is just twisted.

Anybody ever play Dash Galaxy for the NES? You're some skinny dude running around generic landscapes, and you have to avoid these generic enemies that you can't kill because you don't have any weapons. Well, technically you have bombs, but you can only use them on blocks in the overhead-view sections that act as hubs leading to the platforming areas. Try to blow up enemies in the side-scrolling stages and YOU DIE WITH THEM. To make things worse, the music is dull and repetitive.

Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the cat as it asphyxiated was "Oh no, not again." Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly why the cat had thought that, we would know a lot more about the universe than we do now.

Ok, good, they're not the same then. Half the action is walking on a grid map while avoiding/stomping buildings, takes, mini battles with ufo's, and finding the monster boss. The best half was the fighting. System takes a while to get the hang of, but it was fun for me.

The worst one I've played is

Eternal Ring for the PS2. The music was terrible. The sound was terrible. The PS1 had much better graphics. Mmmm, I think there was supposed to be a story/plot but I don't think there was much of one.

Next one I have mixed feelings on

Shadow Madness for the PS1. Annoying and gimmiky gameplay. "Twitch" attack? If you hit the X button at the right time you sorta kinda hit twice without hitting twice. It's similar to the gunblade trigger thing in FFVIII but with no logical reason for it to be so. Some of the absolute worst characters and dialogue ever. It makes crudely translated foreign porn sound like an intelligent and interesting opera. There is one good thing, the overall story had a lot of promise but I was never able to get past the hideous dialogue.

The Fullmetal Alchemist games for the PS2. Button mashing is fun for a time, but the FMA games got old after only a couple of hours.

Bubsy on the Genesis/Super Nintendo. A craptastic Sonic the Hedgehog clone with a bobcat & his annoying voice samples. The physics were so that if you fall too far, you'd automatically die. One-hit death, an invincibility power-up that didn't technically make you fully invulnerable and moments of moving a little TOO fast made this game a horrible mess. Though it was mostly the character's annoying voice samples that really caused the anguish in playing.

I, for a time, had Bubsy 3D for my Playstation. Obviously, the environment was 3D, so it was hard to fall off the map. You could get hit usually three times before you got taken out, and you had some invulnerability for a few seconds after you got hit. But some of the levels, like the underwater levels, were just plain stupid, especially because if you didn't kill an enemy, he would kill you after knocking out your shields. And, of course, it still had the annoying voice samples.

The only good part of the game sort of went against the nature of the video game itself. If you die, you get to see a short animation of Bubsy dying in a similar, often more amusing manner than that of how you actually died. For example:

If you drowned, you see Bubsy fall into water and count down his own death with one hand.
If you got electrocuted, you see Bubsy being electrocuted for about five seconds.
If you got shot by a Woolie, you see Bubsy suddenly break into a million pieces. And, after that, his eyes would mysteriously connect back together and blink at you.

Also, if you left Bubsy alone, the game would go to a screen similar to the one you see when you die, and Bubsy will attempt to entertain you (i.e. supposedly playing with your TV settings, juggling atoms, or just randomly pulling something out of his pocket, which seems pretty difficult considering that the character doesn't wear any pants).

Commander, why are we being chased by Soldane's fleet?
Oh, the usual. Soldane tried to get them to back away, but the fleet commander believes that Soldane is under some sort of mind control and is trying to stop us so she can be retrieved and returned to normal.
Sorry. Things didn't go as planned.
Don't worry, though; Rain and Zero are being chased by the bigger fleet.

Enchanted Arms - You follow a linear path through a linear plot about a guy who releases some kind of ice queen hell-demon from her prison under the school, only to realize that he's killed everyone he knows and the dog he's supposed to take care of is missing. Yes, the main focus of his pain is the dog.
