Site Needs a Serious Overhaul

I don't mean to be rude, I don't mean to ruffle anyone's feather's, but it's just my honest suggestion that this site needs a serious facelift. Fast. That is if anyone cares enough anymore to give it one.

For starters, I think the forum games section should be shut down. I understand there are some people who still enjoy posting in there, but I can count those people on less that three fingers. It is becoming ridiculous and has seriously taken away from the legitimacy of this site as primarily a sports-oriented site, and a fun and games-oriented site second. That is one of the reasons I stopped posting on this site a long time ago. The sports forums had dried up like desert cactuses and the general chit-chat section became the most popular section of the site, with forum games at the top of the list. I just looked over the games section tonight and it looks like it has become so monotonous except for one or two people, that it makes me wonder who would ever want to post regularly on this site anymore as a serious sports website, and not just an elementary school-level games site

My suggestion, and those of you who know how much I once used to contribute to this site know I'm only making this suggestion to try to help the site's future and not hurt it, is to eliminate forum games altogether and get back to the basics of this being a sports chat website. Sure it would spoil a few people's fun, but it would restore some legitimacy to this site which has lost a lot since fun and games took the forefront over hardcore sports talk. If no forums but hockey are interesting to anyone, than why even call this Ulitmate "Sports" Talk and not just turn it into Ultimate "Hockey" Talk. The reason I joined this site way back when I did was because I love talking about all sports, not just hockey. But after the Stanley Cup playoffs finished last June, I must have made 750 posts in the baseball forum which almost no one was interested enough to pay much attention to. I also tried to keep the World Cup section lively, but not many people cared there either. Meanwhile forum games began to hold up this site like its last crutch.

What has this site become, a games site? If there is no interest in any sport besides Hockey for the very few members who still post on this site, then my (once again honest) suggestion for the mods/admins is to completely revamp this site into a Hockey only/fun and games site. That would at least give the site a focus and a measure of legitimacy.

And by the way, my original prediction for when we'd reach 20.000 posts? If it weren't for ONE single forum--- forum games, this site would reach 20K posts even LATER than I originally predicted, not sooner. And honestly, I think it's obvious that forum games has become a playground for just a couple of people by now on a site that has otherwise become ABSOLUTELY BORING.

BTW-- Please don't send me any nasty PMs for posting my honest thoughts above. I haven't said anything rude or offensive, named any one individual or individuals, haven't said anything that isn't plainly obvious to anyone who isn't in denial. I'm only offering my honest opinion as a member who once tried hard to keep this site (the SPORTS side) interesting and fresh and became very sad to see how few people were posting on the sports side and watch the games section mushroom into a behemoth.

If no one cares to listen to these suggestions, at least I tried pointing out what I think are serious flaws. I don't have the answers to what will revive this site so that more people will join and post regularly on it, so that people like me who were once enthusiasitc members will return. But when the head administrator of the site hasn't even been on the site for a month as of tomorrow, there's something obviously wrong here (okay, now I'm just pointing one little finger).

Anyways, thanks for listening to this diatribe, and if the few of you who are still left on here don't care enough to improve the site for the better, than enjoy forum games I guess. I fail to see where games like "The Person Below You...., Who's It Gonna Be?", which is at page 104 now, and I think for the last 64 of those pages, only two people haven't gotten sick and bloody tired of playing it, give this site any reason to be called Ultimate Sports Talk. C'mon man, it's time to get rid of the excess garbage on this site and get back to the basics.

Anyways, I'm not even on here anymore these days, I just wanted to leave this comment as a suggestion to try to help. If those that are running this site think this site doesn't need help, you must be kidding me.

hmmm seems like your saying Im the problem here, that the site is dead because of me.....you saw me post last year while there was news to report on hockey, but if I am the problem maybe its just better for the site for me to leave.......

I didn't mean it that way, your putting words in my mouth. In fact I would actually commend you LA that when nobody else is posting on the site at all, at least you are doing your best to keep the site going. Please don't take this stuff personally LA, it's not your fault the site is suffering and I wasn't trying to make my suggestions as an attack on you, I just felt some things needed to be pointed out urgently before the site withers away and dies.

All I'm saying is forum games has become the crutch this site seems to be standing on, and it's (only in my humble opinion) taking away from the true purpose of the site to be a sports-oriented site. I never said it was your fault for making it that way (I wasted a lot of time posting garbage in forum games too before I took my leave), it just happened to turn out that way.

This is a sports chat site...I am really only interested in hockey and baseball I don't care at all for football, soccer or basketball which is why I rarely if ever post in those areas.

I can see where you are coming from on this one it seems as if this site has gone from sports talk to all games (which I can be blamed for) but it's all for fun

Anways I hope people stay active...Now that hockey has started I plan on posting lots in the hockey threads

on a side note...it's nice to see you back Adas even if you do come across as harsh I always look forward to reading your posts

And I know my comments on this thread are very, very harsh indeed, but harsh is what I thought I had to be to shake this site up a little bit and get it going in the right direction again. Those of you who know me even a little bit know I mean well for this site. Whether I'm posting on this site regularly again in the future or if I get tired of it again like I did for the past long while, I wish this site all the best and will say whatever I have to say, however harsh it may sound, to try to help it out.

(And Leafaholic, willya get back in here you big cry-baby... just kidding, but you know my comments were made out of concern for this site LA, and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING PERSONAL meant here).

Ill be around here, because I told Zinzey I would do my best for the site, and I thought I did a lot during the season last year once I came here, but when there is no Hockey to talk about, all I did was post in the games as I am not really into the other sports that much. I tried bringing life to a CFL area, but when no one is interested in it I stopped.

I wont be posting here anymore after this because it seems like my posts arent appriciated by you if it isnt about hockey. Ill just be coming here to make sure there are no spammers and the site is maintained.

Well Leafaholic, I'm sorry to hear you won't be posting anymore after this. You did do a lot for this site, more than anybody else in fact since you came here, and I'm sorry you're making the decision not to post anymore.

I will try to continue to post in the Baseball section until the end of the World Series and occasionaly in the winter about signings/trades, and also in the Hockey section occasionally about the Leafs.

I also held up an entire section of this site practically by myself for a long time, the Baseball section. And I didn't do it because I gave a rat's you-know-what about whether you or anyone else appreciated it or not, I did it for my own enjoyment.

My words shouldn't have that much of an effect on you. If I knew I had that kind of influence I would have run for Prime Minister in the last election or something. I tried to make amends with you on this thread after my original post, but those words I guess are falling on deaf ears.
