"Counseling?" Shera asked standing up as the bell rang, "You try getting beaten by your own parents for the past eighteen years, and then we'll see if I still need counseling. And how do I know that I'm supposed to trust you with counseling? I barely even know you," Shera glanced at Alex; while grabbing the rest of her salad. She put the tray where the dirty trays go, and walked towards her next class.

alex blinked as he watched her walk off. then he chuckled. "she does need some counseling. that attitude is just nasty."

he stood up and looked at avalon. "bring extra food tomorrow, why don't you? i need more than that. i'm a growing boy, you know."

Avalon had been lost in her own thoughts until he spoke to her directly. "Or," she said, draining the remaining water in her bottle. "You could bring your own food." The girl tossed pristine raven locks back over her shoulder and stood back up as well, lunchbox in one hand. "Come on. Before we're late."

"But cooking makes me hands oily," Alex complained as he followed Avalon's lead. "I do not like the icky feeling on my hands. Sam doesn't cook, and Clare---the family cook---isn't with us. And don't tell me to use gloves, I look like a dork cooking with gloves. Do chefs or cooks around here wear gloves anyway? I don't think so."
