Okay, so I just finished Bread and Tulips--a cute romantic comedy-ish type film about a housewife who goes on vacation with her fams and gets left at a restaurant. Well, she decides to take her own side trip and ends up going to Venice and that's where things get interesting...
I really liked the movie, it was endearing and fun, it had some undercurrents of real life seriousness but several points are simply not addressed--so I guess the director didn't want us to get mired in too much reality....It's in Italian, so it comes with Englsih subtitles and it reminded me of Last Tango in Paris--hold on, let me explain--because there is a relationship between the housewife and an older man, but it's actually more plausible that LTIP. Also, the scenery is beautiful, like LTIP. Other than that, I guess the two don't relate much at all. And why on earth is LTIP an "arthouse classic?" According to Netflix, that is....I just saw it as male-oriented fantasy and utter tripe.
But I get off track, Bread and Tulips, worth watching if you love a little artsy, a little romance-y and a little fun.
