Tour - Sept/Oct 2009

San Francisco 9/21/09

Well, the show was awesome. They were openers, so not nearly enough songs were played. I haven't been able to see them since 2006, so it was a nice treat. My friend was supposed to meet me there, but someone called into work sick and she couldn't make it. The fact that I can't shut up when people are around means I met a few cool ones in line.

Anyway, I got way too drunk at the concert and they don't allow "big" cameras, so my pictures suck from the concert. Here's a decent one of Toby.



So here's the story. I ran into the Danny on the street in San Francisco and couldn't think of anything because I had just looked up for a second so all that came out was "holy fuck, you're from youth group". I learned later from Toby that he'd met up with the rest of them and they'd all thought it was a pretty unique reaction.

During the first opening act I got a bit too pissed, walked outside during the headlining band, sat at the bus stop to have a cigarette and ran into Cameron, Patrick and Danny again. Cameron actually remembered me as the girl who started their forum like 4 years ago when I'd said something about it and had a chat (Yes, Jodi, Danny remembers you and said you were a "lovely person"). In the end I got a free cd, a very big bar tab from $12 beers and a chat with the lead singer about his PhD in history. All I honestly remember is not shutting up at all and making friends with two people in line and too many Fillmore staffers. I am a very expensive, talkative drunk.

Alright, so here are the awful photos from the concert last night. They only allowed "small" cameras, so I had to use my awful camera with a missing line of pixels.

You do know that Toby spent some of his vacation in Mexico and Guatemala! It's too bad he didn't perform for you.

yeah, I read about it on their facebook profile. He went to Puerto Escondido. Far away from Mexico City but still, it was Mexico. I hope he liked it so then maybe they'll come and finally play here.

Either that or if you'd ever be able to go somewhere to see them. I know Jodi came once to see them on Danny's birthday in Los Angeles all the way from Vancouver. I'm sure it's expensive, but she loved them very very much at the time.

I've been planning for a long time, unsuccessfully, to go somewhere in the US to see them. I hope I'll be able to do that sooner than later. It will be expensive but I'm completely sure it would be worth it.

Well, if I am accepted into a program in Los Angeles or the Bay Area (around SF) that I've applied to for the 2010-12 school years, I can be your tour guide when you make it. I think maybe Los Angeles is the cheapest flight to and from DF and the US. Not entirely sure...

I'm sure that's one of the cheapest flights, plus, I have an aunt who lives like 45 min from LA so it would all work fine. I hope you get accepted in the program!

Your bad camera is still better than my bad camera! I do like Cameron and Patrick's hair and lack of facial hair. Still not sure about Toby's moustache but I'll take your word for it Tima that he looked good in person!
