| QUOTE | Not only are theredsunband and Youth Group first-rate live performers, they’re also democratic. The two Sydney outfits are pooling their powers for an 18-date co-headline tour starting mid-October. In true egalitarian spirit, the bands will headline one night each in Sydney and Melbourne, whilst sharing all other dates equally. And, bless their ‘unwashed-because-we’re-touring’ cotton socks, they’ll even do “special encores” together.
It’s an opportune time for the friends to head out together. Youth Group unveiled its fourth album The Night Is Ours in June 2008, the same month theredsunband offered up its second, The Shiralee. And if you’re wondering about the photo here, it was taken when fellow frontpeople Sarah Kelly and Toby Martin met at an Erskineville Oval to flip a 1952 Australian Penny on who will headline each night. Could you be any fairer?
