Pot?: Starting Languages

Languages have come up a lot, and basically, the feedback remains the same time and time again, so let's have a final decision on this.

Currently, the final option is the current approach, where characters know only their racial languages, and gain skill points to purchase additional languages (already incorporated into class skill points).

The options marked with an * are variable alternatives, but would result in a 2 point reduction in class skill points, as they would no longer be needed.

The first option is the simplest, but is an abstraction that undermines the realism of the setting, as not all locations speak Hylian.

The second and third options improve this by allowing either the PC or the GM to choose a common language. In the former of these choices, PCs would basically be able to choose an additional language to supplement their selection, which could still see PCs unable to speak a common language if players choose different types. In the later, the GM chooses a language as common, which all characters get for free.

I personally think the language barrier problems have been mostly player error, but it has caused a problem, which is why I selected the fourth option

I think that having a pidgin trade language available would be the best solution, as that would just allow basic concepts to be communicated without having to have any substantial rewrite.

This poll is now closed. Since I am in a generous mood, and don't feel like redesigning a whole bunch of PCs for this small change, class skill points will NOT be reduced, but all races now gain the ability to choose one language of their choice as an additional racial language.
