The Legend Of Zelda: A Dig At The Past

The three adventurers have arrived at the dig, which is in the border region between. Ikana and Termina. Balthazar is already present. The dig is otherwise abandoned. There are several areas that have been excavated as well as tools and tents for the archeologists. The area around the dig is a relatively small canyon, which terminates a few dozen yards past the dig's perimeter.

Kaina approaches the dig site on foot in a cloak and the lower half of her face obscured by a wrap made of canvas. She calls out to the man standing in the dig site, "Hey you, is this the border dig site?"

The humanoid made of what seems to be condensed shadow turns, spinning without any visible muscular motion and rising a few inches from the ground. Its face seems fairly featureless, but there are two small pools of reddish light where the eyes should be.

"Yes. This is the only archeological site I am aware of the existence of within this general area. However, something seems to have happened to the workers. Quite concerning."

Kaina sits on the ground near the figure and takes off her boots before massaging her sore feet, keeping alert to any sounds of approaching creatures.

"They're just going to have to wait a few moments while I rest my feet. It's been the damned fire pits trying to find this place and I'm not very familiar with the area."

"I doubt that I will be of much assistance to you if you are looking for detailed information about this area. My memories seem to be... unreliable at the moment. I am Balthazar, a shade from a past so distant I can scarcely recall it."

Beech moves up into view in his scholars robes. "Seems like we might just share a common goal, Balthazar. I'm Beech, scholar and envoy to the Twili royal court, charged with figuring out the mystery of the missing workers."

"Indeed... and quite a mystery it is. I know that I entered this location quite recently. The site was manned then, and it was thanks to the archeologists that I was saved from a troubling predicament. But now they seem to have vanished. It is particularly odd in my eyes, given that I seem to have no knowledge as to how they disappeared. I worry that someone has been tampering with my mind."

"If you are as old as you say you are, then no doubt your mind holds many secrets that may be of importance to the Twili. In which case, the tampering with your mind will be another mystery that I will endevour to solve in exchange for such information."

"We'd better get started looking for clues," Beech says as he moves over to the tents to look inside for journals or logs of sort recording the dig thus far.

Ah finally, my feet were killing me.

Putting her boots back on Kaina stands and proceeds to aid Beech in finding some clues as to the disappearance of the archaeologists.

"Catalogs of pottery, artwork, a request for replacement tools... There's nothing useful here." Kaina mutters to herself before moving on to another journal finding more of the same information.

Arriving late, which was an unfortunate habit with him, Arden arrives at the dig site panting and out of breath, "What kind of... maniac... gets up this early... to look at old stuff buried in the ground." he looks around, "Wait...shouldn't there... be more people around here?"

"There should. The archeologists disappeared quite recently. The rest of you arrived not long ago, at least some to investigate. What brings you to this place?"

Beech finds a journal relating to the dig. It tells a lot of things that don't seem relevant to the current situation, but are quite interesting to Beech nonetheless. Starting towards the end he finds references to a door. However there is a problem, there is no door present in the dig. There are also references to the new moon.

Beech puzzles over this for a moment, wondering if he has any relevent knowledge about the clues he has seen thus far.

[OoC: As an academic, Beech can make Knowledge skill checks untrained. In particular, Knowledge (Triforce) and Knowledge (nature) might be useful here, relating to magical doorways and astrological events...]

Arden blinks in surprised, "Disappeared?!" he regains his breath; standing up straight, "Someone sent a request to the mercenary's guild for some protection for a Twili named Beech, and I was dispatched as a result. Guess this must be pretty serious if they sent me." he said with a nervous laugh, then abruptly stopped, "You wouldn't happen to know if Sir Beech arrived yet or not?"

"Seek the scholar in grey. He moved into the tents"

Balthazar lifts his arm and points a translucent finger to indicate the last tent he saw Beech enter.

Knowledge (Triforce) and Knowledge (nature) skill check. (1d20+8=18, 1d20+2=12)

Beech has heard about doors that only appear under certain circumstances.

Beech muses over the journal for a moment, and then pockets the journals and leaves the tent, heading over to the assembled crowd.

"We may have a lead, gentlemen, although it appears to be quite slim. Better make ourselves comfortable, because it looks like we are going to be here for a little while. Might want to get some rest too, because we could be in for an interesting few nights."

Kaina turns toward Beech and asks, "What is it that you found Beech?"

It's good to see we were able to find some information.

She begins to check over her equipment to make sure everything is in working order.
