Title: Ugh, Doctor's Appointment.

KimH - June 1, 2010 03:37 PM (GMT)
The doc that did the neuropsych testing a couple of weeks ago told me to make an appointment with the referring neuro for a couple of weeks after the test day. I did that. It was today. I took the day off from work and went there. They didn't have the tests back yet. They told me it usually takes at least a month to get them back. Now how am I going to get another day off when they finally do get the results in? And the lost pay from today. Cheese whiz!

..that's too bad Kim...I think it is so inconsiderate of offices when they don't think your time is as important as theirs....
Guess the lesson here is to make the appt but to call before going to see if things are there...

Yeah, but I had to request the day off several days ago, and it takes a couple of weeks sometimes to get an appointment time. I guess that I have to wait until the results are actually there and then schedule an appointment for two weeks after that. I hate to wait two weeks for an appointment without knowing my results, but knowing they are sitting there in his office. Assuming they get them in another two weeks, it will be at least another month until I get to know the results.

..you could go ahead and make an appt when they are expected to be in .....don't ask for the time off from work til a few days before the appt...if you have to cancel the appt...well.....that is ok......it is much less a loss for them than it is for you to have a cancellation.....

I can't ask for more time off until the results are already sitting in the doctor's office. It will be pressing it to ask for any more time off at all. What a pain. I may just have to call the doc's office and see if they will give me the results over the phone. It's a longshot, but I'll try that approach.

What I mean is to just make the appt 2 wks ahead if that is what it takes to get an appt....ask if results ought to be in by then.....then call 3 or whatever amt of days beforehand you need to ask for day off from work....if results in..then try to get day off...if not then make another appt and cancel that one....make sense...?? They really should give them over phone if they are not in by next appt....

I guess it might save a week of waiting, but I can't risk asking for a day off until the results are sitting in the office. I should ask for a day off a week in advance because work schedules are made out a week at a time. And once I ask for the day off, the whole work schedule is rearranged to fill my spot and can't be undone.

This mess is the fault of the neuropsych guy who told me to make an appointment with the referring neuro for 2 weeks after my testing--which is what I did.

Well hopefully the doc will be willing to go over results with a phone call.......that's a long time for results....must be hard waiting for them.....

When I was in the neuro's office, the PA told me that they had just gotten some results from the neuropsych for someone who had taken tests in March. This was on June 1.

It's been over six weeks since my testing, and no results. I went into the neuropsych's office almost a couple of weeks ago and asked about it and the nurse told me they would try to get them last week and would call me. Last week, and most of this week have come and gone and no results. I guess her job is to smile and be charming while blowing off patients.

This is too much Kim...have you thought of contacting your insurance company and complaining? It seems wrong that the doctor gets his money and you get nothing? At least ask if they have filed a claim yet and if so has it been processed and paid?

The referring neuro's office assures me that this is normal for it to take this long.

Whine!!! It is now past 7 weeks since my tests were done. I called yesterday and the receptionist took my message. No one has returned my call yet.

8 weeks now, as of today, and counting. They won't return my phone call. A friend of mine suggested that by now the test results won't be current anymore and I'll have to be retested. :)

Now we're making progress. It took slightly over 10 weeks, but my referring neuro finally got the test results from the testing neuro this morning. Now I have to wait for the referring neuro's associate (referring neuro on vacation) to read them and find a way to get me the results.
