Ok, here's one for the books. My dermatologist has long prescribed Retin A for me to get rid of all of the precancerous lesions I have on my face. I'm in a dispute, because they are saying that this is cosmetic, and so the medication isn't covered. They do, however, allow it to be covered for acne. Why is cancer cosmetic and acne isn't?
Wahoo! There are rare occasions when persistence does pay off. I persisted with my claim that skin cancer is a medical problem and not a cosmetic one. The insurance company just approved the cream.
Well they should! Skin cancer is the best of reasons to prescribe the cream as I see it. Good for you for standing up to them! (0)
