Oh my goodness Wanda! I love your garden....it is soooo beautiful (even though you are growing beets :P ugh) What a perfect garden. Ah makes me jealous! I want land and my garden again. Boy you weren't kidding about needing help back up the hill to your house... you might need to install a tow rope.
Thanks for sharing the awesome garden pictures

Thanks for posting the pics Jo! Don't know how you did it so fast!
Martin isn't crazy about the beets either Shelley, but he does like beet pickles in his salad. They are delicious, but messy to make. Do you like them?
There are two raised beds with green beans so I'll be canning soon. Oldest son and wife will be here on the 31st....maybe they will be canning too!
The dogs love it down by the garden. There is lawn all around the garden and they run, wrestle and roll on it.
I hope you can garden soon too. Anyone around with a bare spot you could grow on or a place for a raised bed or two. I will really miss gardening when I can't do it anymore. I am lucky that Martin can do all the hard stuff. Used to use the big rototiller myself, but would make me very sore now.
LOL....I mentioned a tow rope to Martin a oouple years ago!

I love beet pickles! Used to make them and you are so right, they are very messy. Red beet juice everywhere!
I loved see your animals, too. Those are handsome dogs, Wanda. Simba is a lovely girl.

Thanks Jo! I will try to get a pic of Kalie (we call her Munchie), my small cat who is always picked on by Simba. We do our best to help her out.

Iris used to pick on Jasmine...until they both got too old to care anymore! Sometimes though if Jasmine was with me and Iris came barging in on her time...she could attack with the best of them!
I look forward to seeing your little one!

Awesome, Wanda. You guys have done a great job. Here, we have had such weird, hot, wet weather that a lot of stuff has just succumbed to mildew. However, we did have a gorgeous early garden at Cheryl's.
BTW, We have a puppy.... not ours, but Cheryl's, so we are granddogparents. A Havanese, he is wonderful and now about 10 weeks old. I will try to post some photos soon. Talk about taking care of a baby!!! wow.
 ;)

Joan,
Would love to see pics of the pup!! I love them when they are little. Good thing I am old or I'd have a couple more dogs. Martin has always wanted a white boxer to go with Abby and Heidi....one of each color. So I got him a BD card with a white boxer on it. No more dogs for us at our age!!!!
I hate to see the mildew come at the end of our growing season. I am busy now making Zucchini bread to freeze for winter. When I shred and freeze zuchinni I never use it.

Wanda,
I went to a church meeting last night and I swore I was tasting a wonderful apple crisp and came to find out it was made with zuchinni!!! I could not tell at all! I'm trying to get the recipe and when I do I will post it, but maybe you might find one online? (and yes it has sugar and yes I took a taste, which is not on my "no sugar" eating plan but that was all the sugar I had -_- )
I use my grated zuchinni in spaghetti sauce and that is very yummy and a good way to use it up.

Those dogs are so regal looking...just beautiful! Dogs, cats, and a garden? I would be in heaven. Everything looks so nice, I am kinda jealous!

Not me! I am not jealous of Wanda, cuz I know how hard she works on her projects, including the dogs/garden. She earns every bit of it! Somehow, she gets through the pain of the knees and the Addison's and other stuff, but she does. No. I am not jealous, just very proud of her.

Thanks Maureen! It really is heaven here. Would like to shut up the dogs all around us tho! We would never allow our dogs to just sit and bark for nothing.
Thanks Joan....you are so sweet! I am lucky that Martin is strong and will do anything I ask. It really is the only way to get the hard stuff done around here. I am having severe lower back pain now so not doing too much more than picking produce and watering. Going to the chiropractor...that's fun!

WOW for the gardening, Wanda. I agree with Joan that you do work hard!! We tried containers this year with limited success. Really need to get a book or advice on container gardening. Thank goodness for all the farmer's markets!!
We love borscht so we will be picking up some beets. Love beet pickle as well & have found a lady that makes it so like my Mom did!! Just don't eat enough to make canning worth while.
We've had some great meals with asparagus. So good!!
The dogs are gorgeous. I still miss mine. The Golden on our street died so I don't have that to look forward to.
This summer has flown. I was saying to Jake this morning that the last 3+ weeks are blurred.

I used to can beet pickles and ate lots of them...but they are somewhat sweet so it's probably best I don't do it anymore...they aren't for everyone, seems most either love them or hate them!

OK... I am going to buy beets at Publix tomorrow, cook them and serve them sliced with butter.... yummmm.
