My recent experience of having trouble getting a refill on my Act-o-Vial has been solved. It turns out the NDC number is different for the preservative free Solu-Cortef Act-o-Vial. Not sure if the old one with preservatives is being discontinued but if you are told it is not available ask them to look for the preservative free, NDC: 00009-0011-03 ( for the 100 mg. vial).

I have a new one and it is good until 2015. So, the lack of preservatives does not appear to shorten the self life.

As I understand, the old act-o-vial of Solu-Cortef with preservatives has been discontinued. This is per Pfizer.
