I'm sad 'cause there's a very minute chance that I will get to see it on opening night (I started to spell it with a 'k'... am I stoked, you ask? I think that blunder speaks for itself) or any time soon, but I will be stalking this thread, so... yeah...

WOOT! woot.gif excited.gif

I'm going to see it as soon as I get a chance. Sadly, what with Doctor Who on tomorrow night, and then a Hangout Show the next night... I think I'll make Kyle take me to see it soon.

Christian Bale is just... he's amazing. I love him. And Cillian Murphy makes me happy. Heath Ledger... I will forever cherish this performance, it's GOT to be just amazing.

{does insane mix of dancing and jumping while chanting "I WANNA SEE IT! AAAHHH!"}

I would squee now, but... there are other people around... biggrin.gif

The things I've been reading about Heath's performance in particular (and what I've seen from trailers and little clips of late), along with my great fondness for Christian Bale (and CM), are all causing a borderline rabid urge in me to watch it.

Anyone else catch that bit on the History Channel about the psychology behind The Dark Knight and just the whole Batman story in general? I just caught the tail end of it, when it was talking about how the Joker is in a lot of ways like the evil mirror of Batman, and how the conflict between them is a lot like the duality of human nature--how all of us have the capacity for good or for evil, depending on our choices.
I thought it was rather great, but I just love stuff like that.

(Spoilers, Spoilers, Holy Crap, Spoilers Here -- View at your own risk of being incredibly pissed off if you enter the theater with this knowledge)

Okay, so, Cates and I saw it this afternoon. I thought it was incredible, quite frankly, I loved nearly every aspect of it. I have to say this entire movie belongs to Heath, I thought he did an incredible job. He just gave me chills. He was hysterical but darkly demented, and probably did one of the best acting jobs I have ever seen. It's so bittersweet because it's his last performance, and it was awe-inspiring.

Otherwise, Rachel's (apparent) death kind of just flew over my head. I did like Harvey Dent, though, despite his (relatively short) transformation towards Two-Face. I felt bad for him. And I am so glad Gordon lived, I was heartbroken for awhile.

Oh, and the smug look on Cillian's face and pretty sizeable screentime alotted to him in the beginning just made me so happy, I cannot even tell you. I know it's nothing critical, so roll your eyes if you want, but what can I say, I love him. rolleyes.gif I expected so much less.

But, yeah, I loved this movie incredibly, so much of it rang true to the comics but was gritty, and darker. The beginning was so awesome in itself. I'm just so afraid of what's to come in the next one. They shouldn't even try recasting The Joker after Heath's amazing performance. But he's such an important and main villain, that I'm really worried if the next movie is going to suffer, especially after they left it open-ended with the whole "destined to keep doing this" kind of thing. Unless they just leave him locked up and find a new villain to amp up, I guess. Cait told me The Riddler is being rumored around.

But anyway, Dark Knight was amazing. I forgot how much I had missed these actors, and just how talented they were. But I think Heath is just the heart and soul of this movie through and through. My heart just breaks that he won't be able to continue this role, but it's an incredibly memorable one, and I'm so glad they casted him and gave him this opportunity.

(Okay, you can look now, but incidentally, it's the end of the post)

I totally skipped over Rel's post (of spoilers...) because I want to say... I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE SO BAD AND I HAVE TO WORK FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS!!

Why is that a big deal? Well, working from 6am-2pm back-to-back, you're pretty useless for the rest of the day even if you do get out at 2pm. So, I'd probably get to the theater and pass out. Unless, I took a nap first.

Anyway... The Dark Knight. I must see it. @_@

Saw the Dark Knight yesterday and it was so amazing! I have a few things to say.

1. Cillian Murphy is amazing. As Rel said, I was expecting less, but it was perfect. I love him.

2. Heath Ledger's performance was stunning. He was most definetly the best Joker out of any of the Batman movies. "Look I made the pencil disappear!" rotfl.gif I loved that part. The Joker cannot be brought back with Heath gone. No one could top him.

SPOILER!!!!!!!

3. Rachael's death was so out of the blue. But more importantly, the Tumbler's gone! That was very sad. That car, tank, whatever was awesome.

END SPOILER

So everyone should go see the Dark Knight!!!!!!

(Spoilers, complete and utter spoilers.)

I take back absolutely everything I said about being worried Heath would do a bad job with the Joker. I know leading up to the release I've been overly worried but his preformance was simply amazing. I love his laugh, like in the police questioning scene with Gordon and Batman, and I loved the fact he really came off as being utterly insane just like the Joker is supposed to be. Even when he didn't have lines he was singing or muttering to himself. I'm also huge on the way people speak and I thought it was great how Heath stressed certain letters like when he said "I'm no-t insane" stressing the "t".

I also loved how they kept in elements of the animated series/comics. Like the Joker's line was something like "I have a feeling we'll be doing this forever" which is something the Joker makes a big point out of saying in the television show.

He was the perfect Joker. I really could not have asked for a better version of him.

Two-face was wonderful too. I like that they gave him more of a story rather then just being a lawyer who Posion Ivy dated in the comics. Like Ari said, I felt bad for him. And I thought it was excellent about how they said the Joker did that to him simply because he wanted to show that even the best people have an evil half.

It was fun to see Scarecrow in there. I like how they showed he is still running around Gotham as well as me just being a Cillian fan.

Rachel's death was very out of no where but I liked it as well. It provided Dent with a reason to lose it as well as making Bruce upset.

And lastly, of course Christian was wonderful. He is my favorite Batman as well so it was great. I have to admit, I was focused mainly on Heath but Christian cannot be overlooked either.

On a completely different note, Ari and I love Nurse!Joker. Perhaps one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

(Spoilers done. Sorry about it being rather long.)

So, I apologize for my long absence (its funny how much you want to find a job, and then, when you get one...), but I am back.

I went and saw it at nice theater in town at midnight, because I was not about to let my Batman get spoiled by some rediculous previous high school classmates who only wandered in because they didn't want to see "Handcock". Sometimes I really detest my local peers. [/off topic]

{SPOOOOOOILERRRRS}

Oh. My. God.

This movie was absolutely astounding. It went above and beyond my wildest dreams, which I admit, got pretty darn wild. The whole cast was a tightly knit ensemble, not one performance was lacking. Maggie was definitely an improvement. :lol But of course, Heath pretty much stole the movie, and I honest cannot say that anyone minded.

As many other reviews I have read said, he completely dissapears into this role, every gesture, word and facial tic pulling you in. Personally, I loved how he'd make me laugh nervously, like I wasn't sure if I was supposed to, and then WHAM! absolutely steal the breath out of me. Like that whole scene with the crime bosses at the beginning. He made me laugh, and then scared the freakin' crap out of me, especially with his stories about how he got his scars. :shudders:

And can I take this moment to say how much I love Bale's Batman and Wayne? One of my favorite :wants to hide her eyes but is afraid to look away: moments is during the big chase scene where the Jokers has the semi and Bruce has to ditch the Bat-tank and use that awesome motorcycle-like thing, and he's flipped the semi over and is riding down the street toward the Joker, and the Joker's just egging him on, like he knows if he dies because Batman runs him down and kills him, the Jokers still wins. Everything that was said without words. :hand to heart: Amazing. I just can't get over it, lol.

And of course, seeing Cillian again was awesome, especially his smirk. When Char, who went and saw it with me realized it him, she was like :gasps and grabs my thigh: which, of course made me shriek, being as completely enthralled and not paying attention as I was, lol. Aaron Eckhart was pretty awesome to, though I thought they were just setting him up as Two Face for the third, and was actually rather sad when he died. And don't even get me started about when I thought they killed Gary Oldman. My indignant "WHAT?!" reverberated around the theater. The cinematography was amazing as well, there were so many times when I went 'Icons, icons,' to myself. :lol

Did anyone else notice how Christopher Nolan co-wrote the screenplay with his brother? I thought that was pretty darn cool.

Oh, and one more thing, for being two and a half hours long, it really didn't feel like it. We got out of the theater, and I looked at the clock and boggled at how it was three thirty in the morning for close to ten minutes.

Saw it tonight with my brother, his girlfriend, his friend Raun, and his girlfriend.

HOLY CRAP! I LOVED IT!

[Spoilers!!!]

I loved the pencil thing. I laughed right out loud.

Pretty much everything the Joker did was amazing, to me. I loved his entire character. As a person, I would HATE him, but as a character... he's just amazing. And I'm half proud/half freaked out that he disturbed Kyle (my brother) more than he disturbed me.

Then again, my "home" is a website founded for the worship of someone who blew up an opera house... Disturbing stuff like this doesn't bother me as much, I guess.

I liked the storyline, and the plot, and the backstory to Harvey Dent. Though I'm kind of disappointed that Harvey/Two Face didn't get as big of a story as he did in the other movie, I still enjoyed that he played a large role.

Rachel's... her... um... yeah...

I was sad. I didn't see it coming, and I really feel bad for Bruce.

GORDON! I was SO anxious when they said he died. I wanted to cry. I was flipping out and gasping and such the whole time. He's one of my favorite characters, and while I knew in my head that he just CAN'T die (because he's important!) I was still shocked.

Cillian's appearance was lovely, though too short for my liking. I liked Scarecrow. I just wish they showed more of him, or at least told us exactly what happened.

Maybe they'll bring him back for more? I hope so. He's too delicious/ly crazy to NOT have around.

The Joker... I can't get enough of him. He's wonderful, and Heath was just perfect. I'm sad that he won't be back for more. I just hope that, if they do decide to kill off the character, that they'll do it in a way that will live up to his performance.

[/SPOILERS LALALA]

Basically, my whole reaction can be summed up like this:

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ohmy.gif wub.gif bigcry.gif excited.gif hyper.gif faint.gif dance.gif explode.gif

AND...

woot.gif TIMES EVERY DIRECTION!

Yeah. It was THAT. GOOD.

Hmm, maybe I should go see it after all...You girls seemed to all enjoy it. The only problem I will probably have it that I've read the comic that the movie is based from, so I'll be picking up on stuff that isn't right...

Holy crap. I LOVED it!

The Joker, I honestly couldn't get enough. His voice, his laugh, his insanity was beautifully done. I really could have been thrilled if the whole movie was from his point of view. haha.

Am I the only one that was totally in love with Alfred too? I mean, I love Michael Kane so I was excited that he was in this.

I'm sure I have more to say but I think I'll just sum it up with: I loved the pencil thing and Nurse!Joker. biggrin.gif

I saw it last night and I was laughing the entire time. Serious, manic laughter. I felt kind of Joker-esque in that way... I don't really know what it was. I was so amused by everything the he did.

(YARRGH, THAR BE SPOILERS BELOW, MATEY!!!)

The beginning with the whole, "I'm supposed to shoot this guy--*BANG!*" thing just blew my mind. As soon as I saw him standing on the corner with his back to the audience, I knew Heath was the one getting in the van, the one who was behind the whole operation. Gosh, it was just fantastic. I laughed so hard when that school bus just pulled right on into the traffic.

Pencil trick made me spit my drink out via my nose. The man next to me was not as amused with my coke fountain.

Cillian cameo in the beginning was freakin' sweet.

Everytime the Joker changed the story about his scars, I just got even more and more pulled into the entire web he was weaving. It was so creepy, and so clever, the way he used that fear to absolutely terrify people.

The ticks that Heath did with his face and mouth were so in character, but it was a character that he made himself out of the Joker. Stunning.

The poor, crazy man who thought he was Batman that the Joker killed, I felt bad for him. I jumped out of my seat when his hanged body hit the window. I was like "HOLY SH**!"

"Hit me! Hit me! Come on, HIT ME! HIT ME! HIT ME!!!"-- Possibly my favorite part. I loved that.

Also, I agree with Ari and Cait, Nurse!Joker= pinklove.gif

(SPOILERS LIKE WHOA!)

1.) I first got into this because of you lot. Then Gary Oldman, who is one of the best modern movie actors. I have never seen anything Batman in my life, despite having two younger brothers. (That I remember.) So... yeah.

2.) My mom is taking us to see this on the beach. I managed to get my mom to let me see it in the theater alone first. There were less than a dozen people, as it was four o'clock on the boardwalk... laugh.gif

3.) The beginning, with the robbery? I might have snickered a bit. And, as I was alone, making up running commentary with what Sara would say. rolleyes.gif

4.) I want plushies now.

5.) My thoughts as I first saw Dent: Okay, All-American Boy. Joy. He's going to be evil, isn't he?

The Two-Face Reveal: Oh, blink. It's Erik as done by the Cursed Cortez Gold!

6.) But it was still oh so cool. And creepy. This movie did mind!creepy well.

7.) Face it, Ledger and Eckhart and Oldman? Stole the show.

8.) I should have realized that all the gore I was worried about when light spoilers reached me (I knew that there was a pencil trick and a Glasgow Grin, and more) wouldn't be shown too much.

9.) The fight scenes were much better done! Yay!

10.) People are saying Catwoman may be the next villian, due to one of Fox's lines. Thoughts?

11.) The ending was really, really interesting. I can't call it good or bad, as I haven't processed it.

12.) Fic recs now, please. I may write some myself, with the Mirror Crack'd verse... *snickers*
