Lol. Well, except for the Helena bit, the rest just confirmed my decision not to see this movie. I mean, Kurt Russell? Seriously? That's just a big NO in my book! Lol.
Which is a shame, because I would have LOVED to have seen ... nevermind. I just looked up the movie, and realised that the person I THOUGHT was in it, isn't, and the person who is, holds no appeal to me. So, aside from Helena, there is NOTHING about this movie that is interesting to me.
I will say though, that I am excited for January because there's two new series coming out on BBCA that I really want to see. One is Ripper Street with Matthew Macfadyen, and the other is HOLY FUCK! sorry, no, that is not the name of the other series, I just looked up Matthew Macfadyen and was STUNNED to see that he is ONE MONTH AND SEVENTEEN DAYS YOUNGER than me!!! Anyway, the other is a series starring David Tennant, but I can't remember the name of it, and I can't find anything that will be airing soon, and originally they had said January. So, I guess I'll just have to TRY and be patient and wait.
Well, in other news, my baby niece is going to have to have surgery in three or four months. They found a hole in her heart, so they need to repair it, but they have to get her stronger first.

Hello all! I hope everyone is doing well. Things are going all right here. My baby niece goes in for her surgery on Monday, and will be in the OR for about five hours. Hopefully this will fix everything, and then she'll be all right.
On a happier note, my bathroom is nearing completion and looks AWESOME so far! The next step will be the hardwood floors. The wood was dropped off last Friday.
Also, I have everything booked and some of it paid for with my Ireland trip. I'm nervous, but very excited and looking forward to it.
I've been playing Scrabble on Friday nights with a friend of mine, and we usually manage to get about three games in. That's pretty good since an average game for us takes about an hour or so.
Well, that's about it on my end.
Hope to hear from you all soon!
Oh, I forgot to add that I've been watching Ripper Street, and I think it's really good! Matthew MacFadyen as eye-candy doesn't hurt, either, lol.

*wailing* Dammit, I don't want to be rude, but I emailed the last professor already to remind him the application for Temple is due Friday! Dammit, if my backup plan wasn't actually a lot easier on my nerves, I would be a wreck.

OK, confused! Are you talking about Temple as in a Synagogue, or Temple as in a university? Anyway, I hope you get everything sorted out soon.
The bathroom has come to a grinding halt for now because they ordered the wrong toilet, there was a piece missing from the faucet over the sink, and the painter has been unreliable right now.
So, I'm more than a bit frustrated.
On a happier note, my 5 month old niece is home from the hospital after her surgery to repair the two holes in her heart.
I have everything booked and reserved for my trip to Ireland, but I do still have to pay off the remaining balance on the cottage. I've been trying to wait out the high exchange rate. It's come down a little bit, but I'm still hoping it will come down a few more pennies before I pay off the rest of it.
Well, I hope everyone else is doing well. I have to run.

Welcome back, Phantom, and congrats on turning 19. If you don't mind, could you tell a little bit about your journey over the last five years? What I mean is, I'd like to hear your point of view on life at 14, and how that changed over the years, and what your point of view on things now is.
Are you in college now? If so, what school are you attending, and have you picked a major and minor yet, or are you waiting until a little later to decide what you want to do?
Sorry, it's just that it's been a very long time since I was either 14 or 19, and I'm curious to know if the way you looked at and are currently looking at, is close to the way I viewed things at those ages.
Well, the news going on in my neck of the woods is as follows:
my baby niece has been home from the surgery for about a month now, and is off the feeding tube and eating on her own. She'll likely need surgery in about five months to two years to correct the leaky valve that they couldn't do this time around.
Anjie has been going to doggie daycare twice a week and is reportedly doing well, though she got a nick on her tail that I didn't know about, and she's been licking at it for about a week now, and I thought it was just obsessive/compulsive behavior because she is a compulsive licker but the vet said it's infected and so now her tail is wrapped in a gauze bandage from the base of her tail to almost the tip. He gave her a shot to relieve the irritation and itching, and she starts pills tomorrow that will do the same. She can't go swimming or be groomed (she was supposed to do both this Friday) for at least a week, possibly two.
I also just made the final payment for the cottage I'll be staying at. I'm very excited. Scared still, but excited, and looking forward to the trip.
The bathroom is almost done (it's slightly unfinished state is not stopping me from using it, lol) and it's WONDERFUL! I'll post pictures as soon as I can get them. And the guys are coming tomorrow morning to move the furniture into the garage and start tearing up the floors to put the new hardwood in.
I really feel like things are starting to come together for me, and are my life is moving in a positive direction. I mean, who would have thought three years ago that *I'D* be going to IRELAND!?
Well, I need to go finish trying to get things ready for tomorrow (clearing off counters and such).

Thank you! My journey has been insane, to say the least. When I first joined the DBCA, I had no friends. I was being bullied in school and I had very little self-esteem. Because of my upbringing in Catholic school, I had no opinions about the world. My views on equal rights, sex, politics, education, the economy, etc, were all created for me by the nuns who taught me what I now believe to be very skewed values. After I got out of the school that bullied me and entered public school when I was 15, I met the most diverse individuals I had ever seen. It was a huge culture shock, but I was really happy to get to know people who were different from me for the first time. The best part was, they accepted me and my "weird" quirks that the people from my past hated me for.
The rest of high school was wonderful. I joined the drama department and acted in plays/musicals, which helped me gain back my self-worth. I was also able to form my own opinions about the world, and even though I do face some opposition from my family (most of whom are very conservative while I am fairly liberal), I am proud of my values. I also renounced my Catholic faith and now identify as an atheist, which my mother is...well, not happy about to say the least. Honestly, I'm just happy that I was able to get out of a terrible situation like the one I was in at 14, because the 5 years since then have been the most wonderful years of my entire life.
I am currently attending the University of Mary Washington, a small school in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Next semester I plan to declare my major as Psychology, but my minor is still a toss-up between English and Neuroscience. While I love writing, I also love the brain. I'll decide by the end of next year, though.
Congratulations on your niece's successful surgery! Your life seems to be full of big and exciting changes right now

Phantom, I'm sorry it's been so long since you responded before I've been back here.
Anyway, thank you for sharing that. It does explain a lot, and I cannot say I'm surprised to hear you say that you've become an Atheist. That in time, may also change, and you might go back to Christianity, but perhaps in a not so devout way. I'm Jewish, but I don't consider myself to be religious. It annoys my parents to a point, but they've accepted it.
I'm glad that your high school years were good and that you made friends. I'm sure that depending on where they're attending college, they're getting the shock of their lives, too, and in their case, probably not in a good way. It never ceases to amaze me how limited in some knowledge some people are when they get to college, and it's mostly because of their strict religious upbringing. Time and time again I'd come across people who'd never heard of Darwin and the teacher had to waste precious class time explaining what to those whose major Anthropology was, who Darwin was, and why he's so important to Anthroplogy, and then having to explain Evolution to them. Meanwhile, the rest of us were sitting there unable to believe that these people didn't know this stuff, which to us was basic because we'd learned about Darwin in grade school.
Anyway, yes, drama can be an amazing way to branch out and explore yourself and learn about yourself and others, and gain confidence in a safe environment.
I don't know what to suggest regarding your minor. Perhaps Neuroscience, but also take a few writing courses for self-fulfillment? If you're planning on being a Psychologist/Psychiatrist/etc., writing courses wouldn't be a bad thing because you will need to write papers and keep notes on patients, etc., and eventually you might want to write a book in your field.
Thank you regarding my niece. I haven't heard anything from my brother on her for a long time now, so I can only guess that she's continuing to do well.
And yes, my life is definitely experiencing many changes, all of which I hope will be good.
