Mr.Rochester, a bit more of a practical man. Sort of....he had a freaky wife who was a raving lunatic who, might I add, attempted to kill him. Not so nice eh? Well I love him. And he was ugly to begin with, but then he became deformed! I am starting to see a pattern here....

So what should we discuss about him?

..........
...................

Oh I know. That Blanche Ingram chick or whatever her name was. I love how he made everyone believe he was going to marry her but he really only did it to get Jane jealous. I thought that was a nice touch to there romance. Although it was kind of mean in a way.

And also, I loved when he dresses up like the woman! That gypsy lady! I can't believe that Jane didn't know it was him.

omg! Gypsies.....ugliness........deformation!!!!!! So Phantomish! I lurve it!

I remember watching a version that seemed to come out of the 60's or before that. It was a long, long time ago so I can't be sure. St.John had scary longish dark hair and looked like a woman. Mr.Rochester was kinda plump....I don't remember too much. When I first saw it I didn't care much for it. But then I read the book last June and I fell in love with it. I googled it for images and I found sopme interesting versions. The one I saw might have been re-done in technicolor. Not sure though...

there was a movie? OOH, i feel so ignorant right now...*note to self, check out the movie rental place* i just love the ending...when jane comes back, and rochester is convinced she still does not really want him, and keeps telling her she can leave...and then the proposal...*sigh*

its always the dark, brooding ones...

Mr. Rochester is rather amazing. I remember when I first read the book I decided that if he doesn't get married in the book, I'll volunteer to take him. wink.gif Unfortunately (or then not), Jane managed to get him...

By the way, I haven't seen any movies. I have seen a (mini) TV-series in which Mr. Rochester was played by Timothy Dalton. It was quite nice. smile.gif

Best Mr. Rochester: Toby Stephens in the 2007 Masterpiece Theater production. Ruth Wilson is also an AMAZING Jane. She brings so much depth and emotion to the character, without being at all "Sue"-ish, which is always good. If you can, I highly recommend this version, it is one of my favorite movies of all time. The musical soundtrack also has some excellent, "Phantom"-ish songs. wink.gif
