But then again, he's definitely not the type of guy to be so selfish as to want something like this only for himself. Judging by his overall attitude over on his own forum, he seems like he would be very interested in hearing both his own style and the style of the preceeding keyboardists. After all, he did say how when he came into DT, he knew that the band was set up and had a style going already...he had to take his style and make it work within theirs. Why not pay tribute to that original style that he had to enter into as well?
With the song as a whole being a general tribute to Dream Theater, I only find it appropriate that the first half of their catalogue be represented as well as the last. I know that Derek Sherinian, at least, would be flattered by something like this, and it wouldn't be hard to show it to him at all. I've been in contact with him via email several times before...he is not hard to reach.
