A suggestion for the keyboard part of the song

I was thinking...what about Kevin Moore and Derek Sherinian? They aren't members of DT now, but they sure contributed a lot to the band. Maybe this section of the song should have su-sections dedicated to all the keyboardists in DT...if nothing else, throw in a hammond solo for Sherinian and a minimalist piano section for KevMo. :P

But then again, he's definitely not the type of guy to be so selfish as to want something like this only for himself. Judging by his overall attitude over on his own forum, he seems like he would be very interested in hearing both his own style and the style of the preceeding keyboardists. After all, he did say how when he came into DT, he knew that the band was set up and had a style going already...he had to take his style and make it work within theirs. Why not pay tribute to that original style that he had to enter into as well?

With the song as a whole being a general tribute to Dream Theater, I only find it appropriate that the first half of their catalogue be represented as well as the last. I know that Derek Sherinian, at least, would be flattered by something like this, and it wouldn't be hard to show it to him at all. I've been in contact with him via email several times before...he is not hard to reach.

I think it'll be a good idea to put something into the song that remembers the old members (something like the infamous nuggets)

if we include previous keyboardists than we must include the previous vocalists too

The only vocalist that would even need to be considered would be Domincci. Collins wasn't significant at all in their career. Domincci wasn't massive either, he was in more of a "get the job done" situation.

Did he write the vocal melodies that made Dream Theater's music what it is? Did he write the lyrics to classic Dream Theater songs? His contribution to the band was that he sang the parts. As much as I loved his performances on WDADU (contrary to most people, it seems), he didn't seem like a significant part of the band at all. And as I said, Collins was really insignificant.



Can you say that about either previous keyboardist? Can you say that their styles and sounds did not make huge contributions to the overall sound of Dream Theater? Can you really ignore the impact that KevMo and Sherinian had on DT's music during the time that they were with them?

It's a project for the actual dt member not the old.
So in the jordan part, the song will loki like jordan style.

But in other part, like jm, mp, jlb or jp we can put old keyboardist style.

But the project is to compose original for the band.
