A strole through Diagon Alley, first rp!

It was a calm day in Diagon Alley, nothing out of the ordinary. The skies were slightly grey from the smug clouds overhead and a cool breeze swept the street. It was early, so as expected, Diagon Alley was almost empty; only shopkeepers, who were setting up a nice fresh display to catch the attention of customers later on, and one or two early risers, who wanted to pick up a few bits and bobs before the shops became crowded, were to be seen.

Chloe McConnell appeared in the entrance of Diagon Alley with a smile on her face. It was a nice cool morning in which she planned on taking full advantage. She stroled past Florean Fortescue Ice Cream Parlor, one of her favourite spots in Diagon Alley in which she spent a lot of her time and money, and opened the door Florish & Blotts Bookstore.
The inside of the shop was very warm, Chloe couldn't help but smile, she felt much more welcome in this shop than she did outside, the indifference the 'morning zombies' had for one another was more than Chloe could bare!
"Ah Miss McConnell" smiled the shopkeeper who was placing new books on the shelf, "I've been expecting you."
Chloe laughed, "Am I that predictable?" The Shopkeeper gave no reply, he continued to stack shelves with his back turned to Chloe.
Chloe walked over to a nearby shelf and searched it from top to bottom. Nothing really parked her interest, it held books on vampires and banshee's to which Chloe had no interest.
"I believe this is the book you are looking for" the shopkeeper said, he now stood behind the counter with a large book in his hands.
"I'm not looking for a particular book, I just came into look" she replied, but walked over to look at the book anyway. "Hmm.. 'Achievements in Charming' I guess I am preditable" She began flicking through the pages with excitment.
The book was priced at 8 galleons, not exactly a great price, but Chloe fortunatly had enough. "You'll be my undoing sir!" she joked to the shopkeeper who handed Chloe the large book as she slid 8 galleons across the counter, and without even a goodbye she walked out the shop with her new book.

Know standing outside the shop with her new book carefully placed in her bag, Chloe counted the rest of the coins in her purse, 11 galleons and 7 sickles. Looking up she realised the street was a bit more crowded, but not greatly. Chloe looked around for her next location..

Hermione woke early that morning, the sun peeking through the slits of her blinds. She showered, got ready for the day, grabbed a bagel, kissed her parents goodbye, and by way of floo powder, went to Diagon Alley. It was quite early in the morning, and she hadn't planned to meet the Weasleys or Harry, as she usually would. This year, she thought to herself, she was fully capable of doing some shopping herself - until she ran into her friends.

She walked through the nearly deserted alley toward Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions; she was in need of new robes, and this was just the time to be purchasing them. It wasn't school season just yet, but soon enough there would be students buzzing though Diagon Alley in need of their supplies. Hermione, being the bright witch she was, knew that she could get the robes for a bit cheaper if she bought them earlier than the school season. She got fitted, charged, and told her robes would arrive at her house by next Friday. She nodded to Madam Malkin, said her thanks, and exited the shop.

She looked around the now semi-crowded street and decided to head toward Gringotts. After a long process, she withdrew enough galleons, sickles, and knuts to purchase whatever else she found she needed. Hermione strolled along, window shopping at the moment. As she looked across the way at the other shops, she recognized a girl from school. Her name was Chloe McConnell. A Ravenclaw.

Hermione scowled and turned back to her side of the street. She had ended up in front of Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor, and decided that she would take her chances there. Once inside, she noticed the long queue. She sighed and walked to the end of it, awaiting her turn. She crossed her arms as the line slowly progressed toward the counter.

Chloe now stood outside Quality Quidditch suppies. She peered through the window at the glorious firebolt that mocked her in the window.
After staring at the window for 7 minutes, her body filled with awe at the amazing site infront of her, Chloe decided to move on to Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions. She knew she should spend what money she had left wisely, or her sister could stop her funding all togeher.

Chloe continued down the street, oblivious to Hermione Granger walk in the opposite directon, instead her sites were consumed by the amazing displays outside Gambol & Japes, the joke shop. She had never been in th joke shop, feeling that her time and money could be better spent, but always found their products and displays amusing to say the least.
Entering Madam Malkin's, Chloe was suprised that only one other person was in the shop, appart from Madam Malkin of course. The streets of Diagon Alley had filled fast since she first arrived and Chloe had expeced that most people would be coming to get their robes before the shops became overflowing with students who hd left it last minute. Not like she was complaining or anything!
"Good Morning," greeted Madam Malkin with total indifference. Chloe gave a weak smile as a response.
"Here's my measurments" said Chloe handing over a peice of parchment, "I need 3 new school robes and a new dress robe, in blue"
Chloe paid Madam Malkin for her purchase and exited the shop, she had learned long ago by her sister to give your measurments so you didn't have to stand in awkward silence for 10 minutes.

Now walking back up towards the Ice cream parlor, Chloe looked at her watch, 11.17am, time for a nice break..

Hermione looked down and uncrossed her arms. She reached a hand into her pocket and felt for her wand. She found it and was satisfied - for some strange reason, she had thought she had left it behind. She let out a sigh of relief and returned her gaze to the long line ahead of her. Sure, all of the other stores were basically deserted, but the parlor had to be packed. She rolled her eyes as the line slowly advanced toward the cashier.

She clapped her hands together and wove her fingers together. Her eyes traced the pattern of the tiles on the floor.

As Chloe reached the uncommonly large queue at the parlor she sighed.. It was never usually this busy until after twelve o'clock! Although with the school year drawing near, it was hardly suspicious.
Most people did like to indulge themselves in some delicacy before spending all their money on items they didn’t want to really buy.

Chloe walked past the people in the queue, they showed nothing but total indifference to her, this feeling seemed to spread everywhere these days.
There were a few friendly faces who said hello as she passed. At the end of the queue was Hermione Granger, who was about to start her last year at Hogwarts.
“Hi” said Chloe politely, she had expected Hermione to be with Ron and Harry, as she usually was but Hermione stood alone.
The queue moved fairly quickly and within minutes only a handful of people stood in front of her.

Hermione half-jumped as she heard a voice behind her. She turned and nodded.

"Hello."

She said, turning once more to the queue. Within minutes the parlor had cleared out and Hermione was at the head of the line. At this point she didn't care what she got any more, so she took out a few pieces of money and said she'd take whatever that would get her.

She received a small cone and said thanks, retreating to a small, double-person table near the wall.

Chloe waited as the few people infront of her ordered. Hermione, who was infront of her, bought a cone and went off to a 2-seater table,

"Next!" said the witch at the counter quite lifelessly, she looked incredibly bored, "What can I get you?"
"Um... I'd.. like.." Chloe looked over the price menu at the side and then browsed the sample flavours infront of her
"Sometime today would be nice!" said the witch, "other people are waiting," She pointed to the queue that was twice as big as it had been before.
"I'll have a medium tub of 'Charmed Chocolate' please" Chloe replied, looking at the sample of soft brown icecream that was magically swirling around and making shapes by itself
The witch scooped some into a tub, that resembled the shape of a cauldron, and shoved it in Chloe's face, "That'll be 4 sickles and 18 knuts please"
Chloe placed the money on the counter and, carrying her cauldron of chocolate ice-cream, looked for a seat.
See gazed at the free seat at Hermione's table and wondered if she should ask to sit with her. Hermione was happily licking her cone as Chloe walked to her table.
"Mind if I sit here?" she asked, hoping the answer would be yes as she had been on her own for the whole morning and fancied the company.

Hermione was minding herself as she ate her cone. It wasn't too appealing, so she finished it quickly - which resulted in a brain freeze. She shuddered from the coldness and soon shook the small fit. She leaned on the table and rubbed her temple...she hadn't had one of those since she was at most eight years of age! It was a strange sensation. Coming back to reality out of the world of memories, she saw a girl standing before her.

"Oh, yeah...of course."

She motioned to the seat and smiled. She discontinued the action of rubbing her temple and instead reached into a small book bag she had been carrying strapped over her shoulder. It held a few of her prior purchases, and she took out a rather large book she had brought with her from home. It was Muggle-printed literature, but Hermione, being Muggle-born herself, did quite enjoy it.

Chloe sat down, placing her pot of chocolate icecream on the table. The contents was now in the shape of two large eyes that looked at her suspiciously. Chloe poked one of them with her spoon.
The noise level round her had increased greatly since Chloe had got her icecream only a few seconds ago, the queue seemed only a little smaller. The excited chatter that surrounded her seemed to be mockingher in her silence.

"Looking excited to going back to Hogwarts?" she asked Hermione,desperate to make conversation. Hermione had placed a large book on the table, "Ooo what book's that??" She glanced at the book but couldnt make out the title.

Chloe had a sudden longing for her friends to be here, Chloe didnt know Hermione very well, she had seen her round school and knew her only because of her intelligence and the fact she was one of Harry Potter's best friends. The most Chloe had ever said to her before know was 'hi'. Chloe continued to prod her icecream, whic was now the shape of a foot.

Spydie Rosier rushed down Diagon Alley, muttering "Excuse me," and "Pardon me!" left and right.
"Oh god, I'm so late! They will have my hide for sure!" she thought to herself, dreading the consequences. Spydie needed this job.
She bolted through the door as she tied her apron around her waist. She gave the other worker a glance of "I'm sorry," as she punched her time card and joined her coworker behind the counter.
The reason for Spydie's tardiness was due to a visit to her grandfather at St. Mungo's. Her grandfather had been hexed quite terribly with an incurable malady, leaving her to find a job considering they had spent quite a lot on hospital bills.
She glared at the mess gathering at the tables and went to clear them off, accidentally kicking Chloe with her steel-toed boot on the way.
"Very sorry, love!" she stammered as she gathered the trash left by a group a children a few minutes before.

"Ouch" CHloe muttered as a girl who was passing kicked her.
"Very sorry, love." the girl stammered
"It's fine," Chloe said rather bitterly as her leg throbbed, her eyes looked at the steel-toe boots the girl wore, as if trying to find a reason for the stingng sensaton in her leg.
She looked back t her cauldron fool of Chocolate ice-cream, it had disppeared round the edge of the cauldron which Chloe gav a sheer 'meh' to and threw the spoon down at it.

Once finished cleaning, Spydie went back over to the table in which girl she had kicked accidentally sat. "Can I get you some ice, hun? I'm dreadfully sorry."

"No it's alright, it's only a bruise," she said, smiling kindly, "It' not likeyou did it on purpose."
Chloe quickly glanced around, the queue had did down o only a handfull of people, however almost every table was filled with chatting wizards and witches in deep conversation
