Should I go with flat colours or shaded? I'm thinking flats but I'm not -sure-.

I prefer the flats, but they could use a bit of cel-shading. Some sharp highlights and shadows to accentuate the colors would help make it pop a little bit without going all-out like the shaded version.

I think you went a little overboard on the shading. Though I'm sure it comes down to taste.
