Folks,

What do you consider to be your perfect water parameters for growing fry?.

I keep mine at constant breeding parameters, but dose the food with the required vitamins for growth.

Mine was always the same, as everything on central systems, but relied heavily on high protein food and vits,

If you look at wild fish....they breed in a low ph, so does the water harden when the fry grow?? I think not...to me its all down to the nutrient/vitiman rich food supply

Lee,

I put a suppliment into that food I made, which is used to grow on fish commercially. Its not available to the public but I got it as my mates a fish farmer. Bumped up the protein level and theres the perfect fry food...

I've seen the base ingredient make goldfish grow at 2 or 3 times thier normal rate, in a year they were about 10" -14" average....when I saw that, some of the food found its way into the boot of my car. (well to be exact 25lbs of it did) :ph43r: :ph43r: :ph43r: :ph43r:

Willie,

Been playing with some growth hormone stimulants, makes the fish grow quicker than I imagined, reckon you might be having a second product soon..............

Simply out of curiosity ....... why do you want to make fish grow faster ?

granville - February 2, 2006 08:35 AM (GMT)

Commercialy it means that they are saleable quicker

Breeding wise it means they will breed earlier

Shapewise it means they are taller

Strengthwise it means they are stronger,

Plus the fact you can sort out the good un's and bad un's in quicker time...upping your quality of stock.

G,

Doe this method of hormoning affect the fish like the use of hormones has in certain parts of Asia?

Let me know how it goes....I can maybe point you in the direction of a guy who's got his fingers in the rainbow trout market and I reckon he'll be interested in it. Oooo and if you send me some for the 2nd version of the food....all the better :D :D :D :D

Hey Willie,

It's an extension of my gaba experimentation that's had to take a different route because of the kind intervention of the man from he ministry.....................

what is the growth rate in the wild B) per month

granville - February 2, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)

Slow Lee,

According to the literature in the natural history museum stats, they reach 5" total length in 24 months, where as in the tank it can be done in 9 months...............
