Title: Slime on new fish.

Dickson - July 21, 2006 02:50 PM (GMT)
I got a few fish last night and put them into thier tank.
Got home from work today to find that they are looking ill, with a white slime attached to thier bodies.

One of them has developed a white eye and 3 are hanging at the surface. Was going to dose the tank with anti-bactrial med, but though better of it.

Anyone got any ideas?

As its you willie I assume water is good......you have not been washing sheep in it?

I would add some salt & possible salt dip too, depending on their condition.

I'm suspect of the water Mike....somethings not right with it but I can't put my finger on it.

Going to do a 100% wc over the next day, hopefully that'll help.

Already had to put one to sleep as it was too far gone boo hoo

Willie,

Were they local fish and were they fed before moving, was oxygen used etc. as those are classic symtoms of ammonia burns, like sunburn arrives many hours after the event, water changes with the chlorine in would be first choice, few more details would help, sorry to hear about the problem, too quick to be bacterial, but as Mike said how's the water?????

Cheers G

Yeah they were local fish and I think they were fed before moving them. 2 more ain't looking good, but another 3 are looking better.

I'm just going to change the water gradually over the next day or so and hope for the best.

Did a huge WC and added a little food later on. They are all eating except one so I'm taking that as a good sign.

Mike, If you need someone to look after your fishes while your away, I'm sure I could do it....they might not be there when you get back thou. :o
