Hi Folks,
I have just had a pair spawn, on some plastic Bamboo sticks(wife likes them wacko.gif ) theres a lot of fungus ones, and they dont seem to be removing them, but been there 36 hours and some still look fertile, and i have just noticed some very fine like worms on the glass of the tank, there about 1mm long, i remember seeing them a long time ago, but cannot for the life of me remember what they are or if they are harmfull. I cant see them in any of the other tanks.
Anyone got any ideas what they are, and how if nescesarry how to get rid? or will the baby discus( if they hatch out) eat them? tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

i had the same thing once, i was told they were called nematoda worms. they seem to appear when over feeding or on high protein foods. i got rid of mine by cutting down on the food and upping the temperature to in the high 90`s for 2 days. the discus can take this heat but the worms dissapeared.

they are harmless, didnt do any of mine any harm, just not nice to see in your tanks.

Thanks leeryann, ill up the temp, they have been on rather a lot of food and high protein, wife thinks there starved laugh.gif but being honest havnt really got to regulate the food properly yet, i think i'd rather have the worms, than starve them, but i will take your advice and cut the food down and up the temp, thanks again

The other thing is that you could have nitrate too which will kick off the algae..

dont worry about starving them, discus can go for days, even a week without food, not that i let mine nor would i leave them that long but when i had them i didnt feed them for a day. the only thing is with eggs in the tank they might get hungry and eat them instead, which you dont want. try covering them with mesh.

Hi Mike.
Sounds like Planaria to me. Just remove all the bogwood and any where they can hide and syphon like mad. Starve the fish for a few days. Its caused by over feeding. Gouramis and corrys love them.
Could you send us over a few Kittens as I am starving
