help urgent

help my fish are covered in white dust patches the blue fish have gone nearly black the white comes off the fish onto the sponge filters,tried the cuprazin treatment for 4 days to no avail......

will try and get some pics

looks like hyper mucus production.

You'll need to use the cuprazin again, shake well and use at least a 50% of the marine undergravel dose on days 1,2,3,4 and at the same time interpet anti-ulcer (or no.9) full strength days 1 and 4 and half dose on days 2 and 3, on day 5 massive water change, the fish will be nearly fully clear then.......................

It's discus flu, and takes about a week to clear fully with the meds, should use some wormer too, any large parasites get a strong hold on weakened fish!!!!

cheers G i have tried the cuprazin for 4 days already,should i do again and include the no9 by the way it came in on new fish which were in quarantine

Did you follow the quarantine procedure sheet???? the flu only gets a hold when orp (redox levels) drop, i.e. when there is ammonia/nitrite for a period...........

Do a water change and repeat the cuprazin with the no.9, it will start to clear, the cuprazin will have zapped the protozans, but the bacteria are still there giving more food to the remaining protozoan colony, and protecting them underneath the mucous.

Kill the protozoan and bacteria.........................fish heal, but watch out for ammonia/nitrite, that's what triggers it off!!!!

now 4 days since treatment finished all seems well only lost 1 fish because it leapt from its tank, THANKYOU to all who advised me what i ned to know now is when can i safely add or sell more discus as i would not like to pass it on to others,thanks again.

HI JUST A UPDATE 1 FISH FULLY RECOVERED AND 1 GETTING THERE AND 1 DIED WHICH HAD NO PROBS BEFORE BUT FOUND DEAD IN THE MORNING.
THE 1 THATS GETTING BETTER IS VERY DARK AND HAS LOST PART OF HIS FIN.
STILL NOT EATING.

Sorry to hear about your dead fish, got no idea why it might have died, but glad the others are improving, the fin damage is caused by the bacteria, which destroys tissue, once it's dropped off it will start to heal.............

Leave for another week to let everything get back to normal, the problem only spreads when the redox drops (i.e. ammonia, nitrite or something else starts depleting the available oxygen, and nature kicks in), if fish get it a second time, it's milder.......................

i think thats what happening to mine the i that was better is showing the same signs as before the sick is very sick should repeat the process again.
have removed the sick one to another tank on its own.
