Leo was walking towards a his troop barrack. he was given a few new recruits today and he wanted to greet them, 'properly'. Walking across the training, yard, the sun beating down quiet hard, even though it was only 7:30am.

As he walked across the yard, his feet made a lightl imprint in the sandy gravel around the area. Leo smiled slightly. He walked to the door, and then kicked it open, and began shouting at the top of his voice.

WELCOME MAGGOT! TIME TO GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF BED AND INTO YOUR GEAR! COME ON! GET OUT OF BED! NOW! Leo roared into the barrack area. About 10 beds were occuiped, and all of them where moving, quickly.

Oooo, today she was on fire. For starters, Rye was looking gorgeous today and she was in just the right attitude to be hassling the new recruits into being worthy of the Paris Guard title. Walking to the barracks, it was quite warm and Arianne was dressed in tight black pants with flared out at the bottom to cover black stillettos. Slung low on her hips was her belt to hold two .45 handguns which today were visible as there was no need for them to be covered and her t-shirt was plain black and fitted. Rye's long brown wavy hair was pulled into a stylish ponytail with bits hanging down the sides of her tanned face.

Yes, she was a morning person as you kind of became that type of person when you are getting up at 5 am every morning to horse ride or ski. So now it's just a natural habit. Striding towards the main barracks where to the rooms where, Rye heard Leo's voice roaring and she smirked gleefully. Ah, the joys of yelling at the recruits. Walking in, she stopped just short of Leo, hands on her hips. The recruits all gazed at her momentarily obviously wondering who this woman was. After a few moments, her smooth voice crossed the air. "Now, Leo. You are going to teach them all bad manners." It was a sarcastic reply, as she herself would have yelled much more if it was her to make them 'rise and shine'.

[ooc--> Ack, such an icky post! Soz. Let's just assume they know each other well and all cause they are both commanders.]

Leo smiled at the comment made by his fellow commander.

Walking across each bed, he looked and wasn't impressed. Several of the new recruits hadn't made their beds, and there boots were shockingly poor. Leo stopped infront of a new recruit and shouted, quiet loudly at him.
WHAT IS YOUR NAME MAGGOT?!

the recruit mummbled something that no-one heard. Leo slapped him around the face and shouted at him again.
WHEN I ASK YOU A QUESTION, YOU BLOODY WELL ANSWER IT! WHAT IS YOUR NAME MAGGOT!

WILLIAM TURNER SIR!!! the boy replied, his face going slightly red from being hit.

Leo turned around and looked at everyone else.
Right everyone, thanks you pretty boy turner here, we are going to be doing my regualer wake up call. Leo pulled a small bomb out of his trouser pocket.
I would hold still turner. Leo said in an evil tone. He strapped the bomb to Turners chest. And then spoke.
Right, since some of you are new, i'm going to get do something that i'm not used to. I'm gonna give you 5 minutes to disarm it instead of the regular 7. GET MOVING MAGGOTS! Leo roared. He pressed the remote button in his pocket, and then moved around. Humming slightly to himself.

He glanced at his watch, it was 7:30 the commanders were a bit later than they usually were to wake up the new recruits. He didn't have much of a care, however, he was dressed and standing at the foot of his perfectly made bed in a relaxed manner. Chistophe Latour had done this same thing every morning for almost six years so it was beyond routine it was habit. His eyes shot to the door as it flew open and Leo came in screaming at the newbies, there was a sudden commotion in the barracks as the rest of the people flew out of their beds. He smirked lightly and stood up straight. He remembered when he had been new, and oh how did this get him going in the mornings. Then in came Arianne, now he knew both of his superior's first names but he would never dream of calling either of them by their names.

His gaze followed the man as he walked along each of the beds, 'They're in for it now' he thought knowing what was coming as he stopped in front of one of the newest recruits, Turner, was his name if Chistophe remembered right but it didn't matter anyway because at that moment the commander was shouting once more, but this time asking for his name. All that was heard was a mumbled response then the sound of a hand hitting a face and Leo's voice once more, but this time the boy responded. 'so it is Turner' he said to himself. He closed his eyes as the commander turned around, pulling the bomb from his pocket. This seemed to be the man's favorite games; the question in his head now was just how much time would he give them to disarm it. "5 minutes" he said almost calmly and Chistophe started counting down in his mind. These bombs were simple enough to disarm but he wanted to see if any of the others would be able to do it first. Of course he would stop it before it went off, not out of care for the fool it was on but instead he wouldn't want to have to clean up the mess that would be created by it going off.

Eyes closed Tristen dozed, a smile flickering across his handsome young face as dreams of girls passed through his dreams, soon to be shattered by the commander's roar. Scrambling up of his bed Tristen ran his fingers through his dishevelled, dark hair. He had been up and dressed for what seemed like hours, but exhaustion had got the better of him and slumping onto his bed, his head resting against the cold wall, he had slipped into a restless doze.

Now rubbing his temple, Tristen attempted to stand to attention, ignoring the scenes of the night before that flashed before his tired eyes. Blinking he gazed at the tall man who was his boss, awaiting orders. His clear blue eyes moved to the woman behind him; another commander and exceedingly beautiful but she was his boss...

Young Parisian watched as Leo Evans interrogated one of his fellow recruits, his eyes glinting as the young boy mumbled a reply. He was a mischievous spirit and had at first found it difficult to follow instructions without a thought but after several years under different bosses he had become accustomed to the life. This was his first time working under the Paris Guard but he planned to be the best. Smirk formed upon his lips as the commander strapped the bomb to the timorous beast that was William Turner. He looked expectantly around at his fellow guards, waiting for them to move. He had never worked with this type of bombs unlike some in the barracks he was sure. Some, seemed to be standing, relaxed, clearly accustomed to this performance but letting the newer recruits have a shot. Rolling his eyes Tristan strode towards Turner. Stopping before him he rubbed his stubbly cheeks as he thought. It was a small pack of explosives but he didn't doubt it would do a great deal of damage. Chewing on his lip he thought back to the booklet he had read before joining; 'it is most important that the black wire is cut first, followed by the red.' Breathing deeply to steady his stomach that had began to churn Tristen picked up the wire cutters, absently passing them from hand to hand before cutting through the black wire and then the red...

ooc |Did my best considering I know very little about bomb disarmament myself XD| ooc

Elise was one of the several unfortunate people startled out of their beds. She wasn't a morning person, she never was - in fact, she was one of those people who, if left to their own devices, slept 23 hours of 24. Today she had a bit of an excuse - she had just fallen into a slight slumber around seven AM before the commander's strangely-shrill-for-a-man voice came through. Elise groggily sat up, and she saw his shadow through the curtain partition between the men and women -- all the courtesy they had for two separate genders.

Elise was still lazily rolling out of bed and shrugging on the uniform jacket when another woman, fully dressed with bed made, pulled back the curtain. By then it looked like another commander had come into the room, and Elise turned to get her first good look at 'the bosses'.

Off the bat, Elise decided they wouldn't enjoy their time together. The man was awfully short and Elise wondered why Turner didn't just swat him off like a fly (though she supposed the handgun at Evan's waist was something of a deterrant)... and Elise swore she saw the same pants the female commander is wearing on a prostitute a few days ago.

Elise needed some coffee. She needed some more sleep. She needed a smoke. Damn everyone. What the hell made Elise join the Guard, anyway? Oh, right. The miserable meal she had yesterday before being poked by tazers (a form of newbie hazing, she guessed) into the barrack. No going back now, Elise.

And then, the commander pulled out a bomb. Nothing remotely friendly-looking about that to nine out of the ten people in the room, and as the commander called for the disarmament of it in five minutes, people's expressions changed to one of two things: to unbelievably panicked, or to the stone-cold cool expression of the usual brain-washed Paris Drone.

A rather pompous looking soldier (something in Elise's mind instantly registered him as an idiot) decided to try and play hero. Things looked safe enough for Turner, or at least, his expression registered extreme relief that someone was stepping up. The soldier looked like he had somewhat of a grasp as to what he was doing...

Oh, oh no he doesn't. It looked like he was aiming for the black wire first, which would've worked with a hydrogen bomb, but not these - they had yellow wires. The concept of this one was actually simpler. Cutting the black wire wouldn't do anything bad, no, but it wouldn't do anything to stop the timer and would make the process ten times harder. Elise told herself to stay low. Stay quiet, stay unnoticed. Someone else would be bound to notice the mistake. Someone would do something, after all, the commanders wouldn't let anything happen (at least, not as long as they were still standing in the same room).

But it was a lot like being a professional pianist having to endure the piano concert of several toddlers. It wasn't long before Elise began to fidget, before time began to stand still, before the soldier's wire cutter got closer and closer to the wrong wire...

"Dumb-ass, don't cut the black wire!" cried Elise in an exasperated tone, a lot like a teacher chides a kid for writing '5' under '1+1'. The echo was awfully loud in the deathly silent room, and she could feel most eyes on her. Turner in particular looked positively green. "That'll make disarming the bomb take ten more minutes, which we don't have. Someone just do it right, before Turner pisses himself."

[1. Lovely to meet my fellow guard...ees.
2. I'm talkative OOC, sorry, hate to ruin the. Uh. 'Effect' of the post.
3. I think we're all in the same boat, Tristen. XD No problem with improv. What's worse is that Elise is supposed to be an 'expert' and as an American I'm finding it difficult to get a step-by-step site that isn't going to be blocked or watched by the government. ;P
4. On a similar note, Elise isn't usually this annoying and know-it-all and mean about everything. Well, maybe she's always annoying and mean, but she's certainly not a know-it-all. I do ask that you guys give me the small mercy of being right in this, seeing as it'd be in-character for Elise to actually be the expert in the room regarding bombs and pyrotechnic things (exception being the commanders, I assume - she's about at the same level as those that have been studying bombs for a few years). Otherwise, she's quite clueless and rather useless about things. :)]

Arianne watched as the hassled recruits got out of bed and she shook her head sadly, so much training to do. Oh well, that was what she was here for, to whip these puppies into shape. Arianne rolled her eyes as Leo pulled out the bomb, this was his favourite way to break in the recruits. While Leo may be 'punishing' them, for the female commander it gave her insight to the recruits and she could formulate what needed to be done with each of them. Walking a bit closer, her eyes flickered to Christophe who had was just watching the spectacle and she smirked discreetly. Okay, now lets pay attention to those youngins.

Watching the boy who wanted to play hero, she watched carefully and she figured straight away he was merely doing this from what he had read and was going about it the wrong way. Of course, she'd intervene if it got close to exploding but only in the last seconds as she liked to see the fear on their faces and watching them panic. After this morning torment, they would be subjected to her ruthless training when they would recieve little pity.

She was about to but in and give them a little help because this guy was wasting time and she felt like being 'kind' but then the girl yelled out and Arianne stopped from saying anything. Ah-ha! She may actually know what she is doing. <b>"Vite vite <i>[Quick quick]</i>! You are wasting time, now hurry up and get that bomb disarmed."</b> She said sharply, her voice smooth but cold. Her dark eyes swooped to the other recruits who were just standing there, white and dying with panic. Well, this won't do. How are they ever going to be a real Guard when they are standing there frozen like chickens?!

Wire cutters hovered over the black wire, mind still searching through all he had been taught. He had a feeling the commander wouldn't take well to failure, although either way Tristen didn't care. The only reason he had joined the guard was it would make it easier for him to hunt down and kill the bitch who haad lured his brother to his death. Returning to the task at hand he was about to cut through the wire when a cool voice from the other side of the room broke his concentration. Looking up at the younger woman Tristen shrugged, he had no desire to be the hero or know-it-all of the barracks, but past expieriance had taught him to act quickly or be left behind. Speaking the young man's voice was clear of all emotion.

"Here, you do it then."

Wire cutters were tossed in the direction of the younger girl as he stepped back, head titled ever so slightly to one side he waited for her to move. He didn't see it as a failure, retreating from the bomb, simply a learning curve. If he had taken everything he had been unsuccessful at as a failure he would have given into despair long ago. Calculating eyes watched the slim girl, as long as she did what ever she was going to do fast, he estimated 3 minutes had passed already and the female commander's voice only comfirmed the need to act; vite, vite.

Quick, quick, vite, vite. Everyone's stare had turned to stare between Tristen and Elise. For a moment she was almost afraid; afraid of having spoken out of place. For having taken the name dumbass and a call on stupidity, the soldier was taking it rather well. Elise caught the wire cutters and she silently moved toward Turner, ignoring the awkwardness she felt with everyone following her every move.

Two minutes. Elise had two minutes, but generally speaking, she didn't like to look at the timer (and she usually didn't have to). For a moment she ignored everything around her, from the tension to Turner's murmured string of curses to everyone's stare, and for the first time since arriving in Paris Elise felt comfortable.

It looked like something that could be home made, if it wasn't for the Paris Guard insignia stamped at the bottom of the pack. Using the wire cutters she maneuvered through the wires, picking out the ones she needed, snipping them neatly. Twenty seconds to study the bomb and ten to do what she had to do - the timer froze with 53 seconds remaining.

There was an explosion (no pun intended) of noise the moment she snipped the wire. Turner let out a very nervous, but ridiculously relieved chuckle, and several of the soldiers Elise recognized from the day she registered broke into applause. It died almost as instantly as it came, however.

He closed his eyes in exasperation; that was the last thing this recruit wanted to do was cut the damned black wire, but then again he hadn’t been a bomb expert his first day and the only reason he knew this time was he had gone through this many times before. He was going to say something just as he heard a young woman’s voice sound out loud in the silent room. ‘good, someone that knows what the hell they are doing.’ looking to her she seemed almost out of place, but then again the commander was female as well. He nodded quickly as Arianne smirked at him, yes she knew he was just waiting, giving these new kids a chance. ‘Less than two minutes left for these kids before we blow.’ he told himself just as the commander called out Vite, Vite. They didn’t have much time left but he have confidence that he wouldn’t die at least. He had learned to not care about other people unless that was his task for the time.

He let out a sigh as she disarmed it. She was good it seemed, even being a new recruit it seemed that she had some previous knowledge of this subject. ‘she should come in handy out in the field.’ he smiled it seemed that bomb experts never quite lived their full life. It only took one mistake and, boom, they were done, forever. He didn’t applaud or cheer or anything, there was no need it was her job, so it seemed to know such things so why the hell should he make a big to do of her doing something she had knowledge in to begin with. Now if that first man had done it he may have been impressed. Another long day of training was ahead of them and it wasn’t going to be easy, especially after seeing how the other reacted to Leo’s little test.

[Haha, yeah, don't worry. Tristen will give them all what's coming. =o]

Elise hastily gave the wire cutters back to the soldier who had thrust them to her. Her stomach unclenched, with relief over the fact that nothing bad happened (what that 'bad' thing could have been, Elise didn't know -- suspicion from the commanders, maybe, that she actually knew what to do without training). Quickly the young woman moved back to her place in the row of soldiers, hardly paying attention to see if Turner at least gave her a nod of thanks. Back into the sea of faces, back into being unseen, unnoticed, and safe. One of the crowd. One of the drones.

Eventually the soldiers were let out to continue with the day, ears still ringing with fierce lecture and disapproval. The lower soldier ranks were allowed a two minute jesuschristfreezing shower and a miserable breakfast, but according to Elise, still food.

Now all she needed was a cigarette.

The new recruits were called from the dining hall to a briefing room. Elise guessed it would only be an hour of propaganda to get the recruits rilled up, it really wouldn't kill anyone if she decided to run off and try to find a pack of cigs instead....

That is, if she could figure out a way to leave without looking suspicious, walking alone while everyone else of lower uniform obviously had work to do. Elise was certainly feeling adventurous enough to undergo the task -- desperate enough, too, Elise was starting to get so fidgety she doubted she could concentrate on one thing even if she tried. Still, she wouldn't throw herself into trouble when trouble was so obvious. Sticking to a group would be better.

She decided to follow the majority of the soldiers heading out of the dining hall, then follow the smaller group heading across the fenced campus area. By now most of the soldiers split off into their required activities, and for the sake of not catching the eye of a supervising general, she thrust herself into a small group of soldiers going to the shooting range. Most of them, Elise suddenly realized, those she recognized from the bomb scene earlier that morning.

...Perhaps they wouldn't notice that she was just a rookie. Perhaps they wouldn't recognize her at all.

[Hopefully:
A) I wasn't confusing at 2AM.
B) I left enough for someone to reply to, in either a "WTF are you doing here?" response or otherwise.
C) No one kills me for deciding to move the RP ahead a bit, but with no word from either commanders, I think we could've used a little nudge.
Ignore the part where we continue on with the day if you'd prefer staying where we were. ^^]

After the morning “excitement” the day continued on as they normally do for the rest of the Paris Guard. A quick, cold shower some slop that was considered food and off to the more specialized areas. But for the new recruits this mostly meant they would be pounded with propaganda and simple training tasks. Chistophe shook his head thinking back to that as he headed off towards the range with a small group. He wasn’t very social so he stayed near the back with his rifle slung over his shoulder. He glanced around at the others he was walking with and noticed that there seemed to be one more than usual heading this way. ‘what the hell is she doing here?’ he asked himself noticing the girl from earlier in the morning that disarmed the bomb.

He knew he could slow down and get out of the group fairly inconspicuously so he put his hand on her shoulder, turning her away from the group “What are you thinking?” he growled under his breath. “If they catch you skipping out…oh there will be hell to pay. Keep walking and it won’t look as bad.” he said almost laughing. In some situations it may draw more attention for a more experienced Guard to be ushering away a rookie, but in this case it would most likely be looked over for the simple reason it was a male taking away one of the few females. It may sound bad but it was a fact on the base, even though Chistophe had no intentions along this thought the others would and would leave them alone.

{ooc: sorry about the little powerplay there...just couldn't think of another way to do that and i'm glad someone sped it up a bit}
