I've been trying to get my son into his pediatrician to get his flu shots for awhile now and I was just told that they didn't have them yet and to try back the following week. So Monday I called and was told that they had the shots, but they were first come, first serve and I should call in the morning. I did, and guess what? They said they're completely out of the seasonal flu shot for the year and they're also out of the H1N1 vaccine, so I can't get him one. I have no idea what I'm going to do because he's supposed to be in the high risk category since he was on a nebulizer (sp?) when he was a baby and is prone to getting sick. Then, there's me; I can't get the shots since I don't have a doctor or insurance, but I have asthma and sleep apnea so H1N1 can be really dangerous for me as well as my son. If my son doesn't get the shots, I can get the flu from him. His school is trying to keep it from spreading by telling parents to keep their kids home if they're vomiting, have a runny nose or have a fever, but there are parents who will send their kids to school sick because they don't want to miss work or whatever.

I don't get it. Why have I been hearing all this on the news about how everyone will be able to get the H1N1 vaccine, when that's obviously not the case. If there was going to be a huge shortage, they should have said so. I didn't know the seasonal flu shot was going to be in short supply either. Now I'm all worried because my son can't get either of the shots. It's really frustrating.

Ah Vee yeah call center work isnt for everyone! Im sorry you aren't crazy about your job I can def. see what you mean that people will be rude cause they know they'll never have to meet you. Are you stuck in a room with a lot of people doing the same job?

And Shorty, thats scary! Have you tried any other local offices? I hope you manage to find him his vaccines.... its scary how many illnesses kids can bring home from school.

@ ShortyBoo: I'm really sorry to hear about your situtation I wish I could help but we have the same problem here in Holland. Some of the medical depts are already giving the H1N1 vaccine to the low risk category because they were put under pressure by those group of people. And the govt is worried that there will not be enough vaccine for the high risk category. The general vaccination for high risk group will begin about half a week from now. Anyhow, I hope things would turn out good for you and your dear son.
